English for Specific Purposes Program (ESPP)

English for Specific Purposes Program (ESPP) provides purposive, responsive and immersive
advanced learning of English in a particular discipline/profession.

It engages them in 20 - hour workshop for one week intends to develop, reinforce and advance
their communicative skills in academic, workplace and community context, focusing on macro-
skills needed to analyze work-oriented texts, increase vocabulary through work context,
communicate work-oriented concepts and write about work-oriented topics using correct
grammar. It provides interactive drills and actual exercises, including peer critique, problem
solving group activities and writing workshops on the different modules: grammar proficiency,
enhanced diction and effective speech delivery, and professional writing.

The EPPP intends to equip law students with competence in oral and written skills so that they
can confidently interact with their professors during recitations, and in answering their exams.
The students are required to write and deliver extemporaneous speeches as culminating activity.

A certificate is awarded to students who have completed and passed the program.

The maximum number of students in the ESPP is 15 students; scheduled TBA.

The program fee for the 20 – hour workshop is Php1,500.00 per student; payable in cash.
