Abstract
One of the alternatives that can be used to replace some cement is a powder of glass and
powder of ceramics. The notion of early based on thinking that a chemical element existing in glass
and ceramics some of them same as there is on the cement, that is silica (SiO2). This research using
powder of glass and powder of ceramics as ingredients added with substituting in part a cement
from the weight of cement.
This research using seven kinds of the composition of a mixture, one composition control,
three composition powder of glass, and three composition of ceramics, 1 cement:7 sand, 1 cement:6
sand:1 ceramics, 1 cement:5 sand:2 ceramics, 1 cement:4 sand:3 ceramics, 1 cement:6 sand:1
glass, 1 cement:5 sand:2 glass, 1 cement:4 sand:3 glass by the number for each composition as
many as 21 test objects. Analysis of data by using the provisions SNI 03-0349-1989 about is concrete
brick.
The result showed that the use of the glass in concrete block, and use of the ceramics in
concrete block has qualified SNI. On the composition of 1 cement:4 sand:3 ceramics has qualified
great the compressive strenght concrete brick pejal the quality of II and great the water absorption
concrete brick pejal the quality of I according to the provision of SNI. According to SNI, composition
1 cement:7 sand, 1 cement:5 sand:2 ceramics, dan 1 cement:4 sand:3 glass included in concrete
brick pejal the quality of III with compressive strength average of 68.52 kg/cm2, 53.37 kg/cm2, and
40.41 kg/cm2. While composition 1 cement:6 sand:1 ceramics, 1 cement:6 sand:1 glass, dan 1
cemen:5 sand:2 glass included in concrete brick pejal the quality of IV with compressive strength
average of 29.67 kg/cm2, 25.69 kg/cm2, and 29.07 kg/cm2. Of testing water absorption, and
compressive strength it is concluded that a mixture of the most optimum is composition 1 semen:4
pasir:3 keramik.
