COURSE DESCRIPTION
An introduction of Mathematics and Statistics is important for students who concentrate their studies in sciences. Maturity in
Statistical tools as commonly obtained through logical thinking and rigorous analysis is essential towards mastering fundamental
topics in Business and Management Studies.
This course covers fundamental statistical tools required for decision making purposes. After a brief review of elementary
probability theory essential for statistics, we teach the techniques for organizing and presenting the raw data. After this, simple
and multiple regression and correlation analysis will be studied. Basic idea of central limit theorem will naturally leads towards
the confidence intervals and hypothesis tests for mean and proportion. Tests of significance based upon Z, t, F and Chi – Square
will be discussed. The concept of one way and two way Analysis of Variance will be given so that students do not feel any
difficulty to understand econometric course.
