I have already had so many mentor visits with Mrs.Gagliano previous to this one. So

many to the point here I don't even know how many. I have really been enjoying my mentor

visits but one thing I have to improve is making sure I ask my mentor more questions. For my

mentor evaluation of students, my mentor said that I seem uninterested because I don't ask many

questions. She also said it might be because i'm a very quiet person but she doesn’t know.

Moving forward I will ask more questions because my mentor is a very open person. She talks

about her family and her life outside of being a physician assistant so I have to be more open to

sharing more about myself because theta is something I am hoping to do.

For this mentor visit there were many patients that came in with issues related to anxiety.

Before I started my internship I knew that family medicine will have patients with psychological

issues but I didn't think it would be to the extent that it is now. Almost every mentor visits there

is a patient that comes in with a psychological issue or is already a patient with a psychological

issue that is coming in to refill their medication. The first lady that could have already had

anxiety and she stopped having it so she was told by Mrs. Gagliano to not take it anymore. Then

after two months of not taking the medication she can in yesterday saying that she has been
having panic attacks and severe anxiety and she needs to take the medication again. I really felt

bad for her because you can tell in her face that she is struggling and at a point she even started

crying because she was so overwhelmed.

The next patient that we had was a 27 year old female with trouble breathing. She has

asthma and has been feeling sick for 6 months now.She went to an emergency care facility who

did not treat her properly so she came in to get her lungs checked out by Mrs. Gagliano. Her

lungs looked goodwich means she does not have pneumonia but her inhalation exhalation rate of

breathing was very low. Mr.Gagliano prescribed her a new inhaler and asked her to come in in

another 2 weeks for a checkup on how she is doing. The next lady we had was also coming in for

wanting to take her anxiety medication again.

Overall I really enjoyed my mentor visit. Anxiety and depression is something many

people can relate to because they themselves may have it, of on of their friends or family might

have it, It is becoming more and more common and even after people feel like they have

overcome it still comes back.Although there are a lot of natural remedies sometimes medication

is the solution. Not everyone can control how they are feeling and he may have a chemical

imbalance in their brain that is making them feel this way. Next week, I plan on continuing my

mentor visits and seeing more patients with psychological issues because it is something I find

very interesting.
