"There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day.
20
At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21and longing to eat what fell
from the rich man's table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22
"The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich
man also died and was buried. 23In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw
Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity
on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in
agony in this fire.'
25
"But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things,
while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26And
besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go
from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.'
27
"He answered, 'Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father's house, 28for I have five
brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'
29
"Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.'
30
" 'No, father Abraham,' he said, 'but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.'
31
"He said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced
even if someone rises from the dead.' "
Here you can see that Hades is a place that contains both Abraham¶s side, (which is called
Paradise elsewhere«)
the other side, the place of torment, which is called Gehenna
elsewhere. Notice there is a great chasm between the two, also called the pit of Hades elsewhere.

let's swallow them alive, like Hades,

For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to the pit, putting them into
chains of darkness to be held for judgment;

Unlike the souls of evil , fallen angels and demons seem to always go into the of
Hades.

Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his
presence, and there was no place for them. 12And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before
the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The
dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13The sea gave up
the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each
person was judged according to what he had done. 14Then death and Hades were thrown into the
lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15If anyone's name was not found written in the
book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

oeath gives up its dead? Sounds like people¶s lives are brought to an end.

Hades gives up its dead? Sounds like Paradise and Gehenna are judged from the book of life«
and yes, people in Hades do have eternal life, as long as their name is in the Book of Life. These
people are on Abraham¶s side of Hades.

Then death is thrown into the lake of fire? Time to wear the incorruptible bodies.
Hades is thrown into the lake too, however the second resurrection is when the people in the
book of life are taken to the new Earth to reign with Christ forever« and we saw how many of
these guys came from Paradise, which exists full of people until the very end.

It certainly seems that Paradise is full of people right up to the very end, even after
the 1000 year reign.

(Below is the entry from Wikipedia.com)

The phrase "Ô " refers to the place of comfort in sheol (Greek: ’ ^ where the Jews
said the righteous dead awaited Judgment Day. Here, the righteous occupied an abode or compartment
of their own which was distinctly separated by a wall or a chasm from the abode or compartment to
which the wicked were consigned. The latter was a place of torments usually spoken of as Gehenna - the
other, a place of bliss and security known under the names of "Paradise" (cf. Luke 23:43^ or "the Bosom
of Abraham" (Luke 16:22-23^.

It appears that Christians still go to Paradise until the Great oay of Judgment« but most
Christians don¶t seem to understand this«

«What about 2000 years of people teaching that you will go to Heaven?

Let¶s examine why the early church fathers (and pastors today) teach the saved go to Heaven«

That is why the Scriptures say,

³When he ascended to the heights,

he led captivity captive
and gave gifts to his people.´

(This verse ›
 taken as saying Jesus took
 to heaven« or more likely,
Hades/Sheol in its entirety)

I [Paul] was caught up to the third heaven fourteen years ago. Whether I was in my body or out
of my body, I don¶t know²only God knows. 3 Yes, only God knows whether I was in my body
or outside my body. But I do know 4 that I was caught up to paradise and heard things so
astounding that they cannot be expressed in words, things no human is allowed to tell.

(Paul was caught to the third Heaven and saw Paradise there, this further shows that Jesus
took Paradise to the third heaven)

³Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the
churches. To everyone who is victorious I will give fruit from the tree of life in the paradise of
God.

(Jesus promises that those saved will be in Paradise)

Then he said, ³Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.´

And Jesus replied, ³I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.´

Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring
you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit.

(God is in the third heaven, where Paul said Paradise is)

This study shows how the people sent to Paradise in the Old Testament have been taken to the
third heaven, along with Paradise itself, and quite possibly Sheol/Hades in its entirety. And After
Jesus died, the righteous go to Paradise, which is in the third heaven.

But, the eternal life will still be on the new Earth, and the 1000 year reign will also be on Earth.
Heaven appears to be a temporary location for most, but those who reign for 1000 years [the
first-fruits] appear to never go to heaven, but enter directly into the Kingdom of God on the New
Earth.

Then I saw ͞a new heaven and a new earth,͟ for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away,
and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven
from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the
throne saying, ͞Look! God͛s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They
will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ͚He will wipe every tear from
their eyes. There will be no more death͛ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has
passed away.͟

The bottom line is: When you die, you go to Paradise, which is in the third heaven. And after the
Great oay of Judgment the saints will come with God to live forever in the Kingdom on the New
Earth. The first heaven is the sky the second Heaven is outer space, where the
heavenly bodies reside, and the third heaven is beyond the distant North, where the throne of
God is.
