AUTHOR’S PREFACE

It’s the first and perhaps most

special book of mine. So, I whole
heartedly thank you if you are
reading this particular sentence after
buying it for real. The idea of writing
this book lies in the day when my
passion of writing was at low ebb, I
was retiring after two successive
writing years. But as I continued to
recite my favourite poem “Before I
was a woman, so strong so praised, I
was a girl, unaware of omen, only
craving to get embraced…” people
kept coming to me saying my words
‘influence’ so I thought of-
influencing you.
Every word of each poem is
dedicated to none but all. Anyone
who needs them, reads them.
Everything in this world is inter-
linked as am I and you. Everything
happens for a reason, just wait for the
right time, meanwhile wash the
dishes in the basin.

All the words in this book are

results of instant insights or
profound pain.

And listen,
Randomly choose a page to read,
especially when you are suffering, it
will help you heal. Promise. Period.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

It is extremely an honour to have worked

under the guidance of my own people

special project, I’m glad to have your back in
every other thing I do.

The artist, Gauri Dargar, whom I met in

junior college is very professional and
creative.

The happiest and most excited Ayushi Jain,

thank you kid. Blessings.

Models of dedication and love- Mom Divya

Jain and Dad Arvind Jain. Love to you!

Abhishek Rath and Tanmay Pattnaik, the

founders of Haneul Publications have been
very supportive throughout, thanks a lot.

Well, thank you Dear Democrats for

providing this Moral Right-
Right to Publish.
INTRODUCTION

I sit, I think
I sit and think
And write something.
Some senseless shit,
Or some sensible tip.
Some poem against men,
Or some quote of omen.
The story of a victim,
Or description of a grin.
I sit and think and write something.
I sit and think and try to ink.
Here I’ve summarized it all.

From empowering tips in Scintilla and

Fragilité to instigating myths in Ballad
like It’s the God and Elegy like Death and
Lament, I’ve everything for you.
From childhood nostalgia in the good old
days and Pink friend to facts of life in
Petrarchan sonnet like Philosophy of a
life; From happy tales in Paw-dorable to
sad ones in Words of soul, we have every
variety madame!

Dear dad and Dear maa are dedicated to

the two wonders of my life and The 80
miles to the third.

There are lots of dreams in this book and

even more are the nightmares.

The Picture stories in the first section of

this book are my interpretations of the
particular pictures alongside the stories,
(you should make your own stories and
not forget to share with me). Inspired by
the team The Minds Journal, this section
is the starter, shallower and amusing,
you may read them anytime but, one at a
time!

The next is Poem section, the main

course, much deeper, lengthier and
harsh to be accepted. Most of you would
relate them with Self-help content or
others might find them empowering, to
find the best one for yourself, refer to the
Index.

And my favourite the Short Story section

contains some of my best works in this
genre, some might relate to mine and
your life but most are fictious. Dedicated
to my readers, this is the sweetest dessert
I can make.

Happy Reading.

Manvi J.

PICTURE STORIES

I'm the darkness and

I'm the shade.

I have the beauty which won't

fade.

Darling, you can't test my art

I knew for years, Of controlling tears.
In years,
You’ve got me hurt
But mind you, not my wings!
Always you'll burn
To see
My strength.
Forever,
I'll keep slaying!
TheSagePicks|2

Come honey I'll grab you

here Forever and till I'm
there
It can be a sort of jail
Which you still got to
trail.
Come honey I'll love you too

With all the pleasures and woe for you!

TheSagePicks|3

Trust your instincts and know before

it's late,

You'll go empty handed in a two-

yard grave.

No matter how much you’ve earned in life,

It's the bin who owns it after your hike.

TheSagePicks|4

Generously, I would cater you

Forge you, form you!
And to do that,
I would lose myself
No matter what,
I would provide you the best.
Because here I've given my heart
To you,
To complete you!
TheSagePicks|5

O honey, we'll meet

After all is complete
Certainly, another face
That am sure we'll still praise.
Perhaps we'll both poorly pose,
Coverings unfurled;
bones exposed
No matter what we wear
A smile or a tear, I'll love you as you are
Forever and
For too far.
TheSagePicks|6

By the time

we've stopped over- thinking,

We're happier than before.

But lately when we have nothing like

brains,

We're happiest fools.

TheSagePicks|7

They build me steps,

Others take it away.

It's difficult to decide Who's family and

Who’s adversary!
TheSagePicks|8

When being phony to each other,

We are likely to produce an absurd one!

Advanced evolves from

the old.
TheSagePicks|9

Being an old school

Generates luck
sometimes.
Amongst all falling
down in hands of tech,
The one still following the heart
Definitely learns life's art.
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 10

Fuel it up and it would yield you the best.

The modern mind functions as a machine

And

Knowledge is its stimulus

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 11

Internet is the new cupid.

Making senseless couples,

Innumerable fascinations;

The arrow hits one,

Another's obsession!
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 12

In an expanse of Wizards, There’s a face-

Expressionless that Lies alee the truth.

Surely there comes the moment To finally

put on a visor,

To veil down the real you, And bring in the

overdue
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 13

For us, they are one, their souls attached.

BUT the reality is fake

The two are separate, detached!

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 14

Make the thorns of your nature, Smoother

than ever,

Heal the pain of other

Through another’s favour.

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 15

They'll bark
And try to engulf
All your voice and opinions.
But it’s all upon you
And you should know how
To dazzle them with your words
And not leave your voice unheard.
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 16

When the grasper of failure

Braids you a noose,

My friend, it’s time to truce!

Stop that feud.

Know that, you’re crude

Improve and innovate

To become

The Best of you.

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 17

The buzzy note

Creates a tone

Gradually with practice,

And a lot much more.

You just need to wait

And dedicate your soul!

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 18

Prescription or punishment?

They make hundreds, their victims

By politics among the big firms.

Pharmacies and bookworms

Working together

Or in real, bluffing common ones?

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 19

Within the cage,

Lies freedom

Within the fear,

Lies courage.
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 20

That can be rude, excruciating,

Cruel of me

Heart breaking for thee,

But let me tell you honey,

What you're loving,

And passionately kissing

That's fake,

A pseudo-feeling.
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 21

In a World full of absurd minds,

Those travelling with a fair,

legit heart.

Seldom it is to happen,

That they get hurt!

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 22

Reveal the spirit, Undress a wise me,

Cease my motion towards atrocity;

This is my guardian Angel,

Always in action

To enforce and conduce the best in me!

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 23

It is seldom to happen

That we leave the path to

A permanent and perfect future

For the temporary and

tempting pleasures

Which for me,

Are absolutely daft.

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 24

Under the tree nigh their house,

They played along,
Realized love, proposed it
And one day, took vows
Growing old with his wife,
Holding unanimously a perfect life;
The tree started dreading,
Death cheated his wife.
He was left alone but
the promise was forever.
Wonder, he kept it alive.
Yes, they met in an afterlife!
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 25

In this World
Full of statistical distractions,
Books and knowledge
Pave the path to
A better life.
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 26

I have two sides,

A messy and a bright,

But they appear

One at a time

Because what You see

Is what you show

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 27

I was made of them,

The fears

Were my strength.

Now, when I pull them apart,

I see that I'm gone.

With them, I'm gone.

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 28

Like you feel stress,

You repeat stress.

Wherever you go,

Enmity Is all you show.

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 29

I'm startled to know

I've inhibited my freedom in row

When I was a child

I had a fear so mild,

It didn't affect me then

But it doesn't get away at present.

I'm afraid I'm my own rival

I keep the freedom away even at its arrival!

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 30

Someone said
Eyes speak.
I believe
They do.
When you Fail to.
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 31

A kiss of love is all you need.

To rip out the storm from your love life
And bring in traces of shine to your love.
That's the way to a good relationship,
Even in the hardest time,
When it’s dark and stormy,
you still keep hold of them,
So, when it is bright and shiny,
you deserve a kiss!
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 32

She is stainless anymore,

Too numb to utter a word,
The joyful cape and colourful drape,
Is now missing with her.
As he's no more,
As he's completely out of her
She believes no colour
She trusts none other.
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 33

By their worth,
I exist on Earth
These books
Let me dream,
They steer me up
To gleam.
Even in dark,
They conduct me
To embark.
I'm eager to know
how they foster my wing
I'm chuffed by
The hopes they bring!
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 34

Together they moved on and on,

With a promise to forever stay.

Leaving shattered dreams to sob upon,

Now he has gone away!

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 35

Time that

gives the wound

Time that

heals the wound.

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 36

We'll Stay together,

We'll move together,
Moving hand in hand
With each other's favour;
We'll keep walking
And proceed in our career;
We may have chosen
Entirely different ways
We may lead to different arrays,
But with love and its tender touch
We'll make it a success
And it'll possibly be Perfect.
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 37

The black or white,

What should I hold on to get myself right?
The right-white or the black-flack;
How do I persist
Being not a racist?
Neither can be denied
Best they teach me in disguise.
I propose, they dispose.
Their brawl is all, I got to impose.
It’s too puzzling to get through with them,
But I'm stuck.
I have got no right to condemn!
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 38

On SELF-LOVE, I’ve got to say something…

Desperate to hear
The three magical words,
Burbled by self
Savoured by the ear;
An eternal love that ends never
Thine own love will take you
To the foremost of Forever!

For my parents, I have it…

You are the Sun

And I’m the flower,
If you weren’t there
Among my stars,
Like a warm shower
In a cold room
I couldn’t bloom,
You’re the all
I’d need to groom!

It’s the end of Picture Stories,

With hope that you, dear reader enjoyed them
thoroughly, next, I have for you- POEMS

POEMS

Fragilité

She's fiery, a fire!

As she holds a strong desire.
I say she's full of strength,
Unaware of the fierce rubric, she is decent!

Mind you, your unworthy might,

She is morally upright!
What you think of a naive,
de facto, Est a wave!

"she is fragile"-World may renounce!

But ware, before you enounce;
For such cruelty, she’s not fair as fleur,
You better remember, she is Crystal clear!

[Rubric- set of rules, Naïve- weak,

de facto- in fact, Est- is, renounce- formally

declare, fleur- flower]

EMPOWERING
Scintilla

Before, I was a woman

So strong, so praised.

I was a girl, unaware of omen

Only craving to get embraced.

And then there was His call,

To raise, to rise

I tried, I tried!

Though I couldn't stand upright.

Living alone,

Standing on my feet.

Awe my comfort zone

I required to leave.

An aura,

A scintillating profile
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 41

I worship

How 'it' entered my life!

From a lazy whit

To making me lit.

All God has done for me

I can already foresee.

All that was rubbish, they all lied.

No one's with me

And see, I'm still alive.

A poem from nursery,

Bit discrete,

Expresses my feelings

Completely indeed-

Thank you, men for the betray in need.

Thank you, men for the World that bleed.

Thank you, men for the fakes we meet.

Thank you, men for the trust I can't believe.

[Whit- very small amount]

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 42

Moon and my lust

Fades and then reappears,

It's the moon and my lust.

I've flowers borne on my crown

And egomania in my core,

Wrinkles of joy around my glittery eyes

And a sinful fight in my powered limbs.

I'm awake

And it's still me, a newer me!

Letting you descry me or kill me or noose me,

Yet,

Note that,

You got to pay to betray me!

Every fortnight it's you vs me

Viś-a-viś

To fight or flee.

But damned those your flirty eyes

They're convicts free

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 43

Always trying to tease me,

with darts and emotions

and your wit.

But darling,

I'm brassy,

For you, bit glassy

And now it's just me and you're out of it!

[Convicts- Criminals, Glassy- showing no

interest, Brassy- loud in appearance]
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 44

After Marriage

I know you'll not, but mumma,

Everything will be changed,

Everything's gonna change.

I'll move to another house,

I'll make it my home.

I'll move to another city,

I'll call it my own.

I'll move to new people,

I'll have them as family.

I'll get my own man,

I'll certainly not have you.

Yes mama, everything will be changed,

Everything's gonna change.

I'll no longer bathe in the same bathroom,

I'll no longer shout 'mumma shampoo' from in.

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 45

I'll no longer rush to the same mirror to put on

makeup,

I'll no longer mess the same wardrobe and

cupboard.

Mumma, I'm afraid,

Everything will be changed,

Everything's gonna change.

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 46

Happy, yet

Happy with what I have,

I yearn for something else

Not sure if it's for real

Or something of imaginary call.

Happy with what I have,

I still cry for that one

Gone days bring me peace

Past moments calm me down.

Happy with what I have,

I love to live in past.

Not sure if this is some stupidity

Or A zeal within me.

Happy with what I have,

Perhaps incomplete I lie

Draped in this bodysuit

My soul still cries

Happy with what I have,

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 47

Forgetting all odds of present

I strive to go back in past

To thrive

And excite to prepare for the future

[Bodysuit-a close-fitting one-piece stretch garment

for women, worn typically for sporting activities]
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 48

Raped and punished

I'm enough for my lies,

And the pain hid behind my eyes.

Lids that cover tears rolling down the cheeks,

Smile that appears out of nowhere indeed.

No, I'm not sad,

I'm just a bit exhausted

From tantrums and taunts,

That this World has haunted.

I'm enough for my truth,

And the fact that I'm silly.

Glossy skin which isn’t a virgin,

Touched by demons and my body's gilly.

No, I'm not a victim,

I'm just another raped,

Dumped off by the law and power

Of democrats around this sphere!

[Gilly- a male attendant, Dumped- disposed]

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 49

Words of soul

I smile today though in pain,

None of your barbs are in vain!

Everything matters to me

The hair I cut short; can't you see?

It's not because that I like to be

But for them who love to see my glee

'I don't speak, I don't show

The tears I hide behind that glow.'

For all a damn treat,

'My tears' that man greet!

I remember you touching me through here and

there,

I didn't say anything to you,

but you took it as fair.

No, it wasn't my crave that I let you do that,

But what do you expect a five-year-old all in

woe?
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 50

None cared. They all assaulted me as they felt.

But now

Here's a full stop to you and all eyes on me

Because I'm chaste and you're ought to flee.

I am now out of my past.

A big girl so eighteen years old.

I still forgive you every now and then-

To maa’s view that you are her Man!

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 51

Everyone has to pay!

Do I not belong to him anymore?

The only one I dreamt of as allure

He was enough to fulfil all my desires

But I realise, with him, I had stopped dreaming,

as I'd imagined I've got the perfect attire.

No.

That's not way too enough to live,

but to merely survive;

Know what? I was just another victim of adverse

effects of imbibe!

Like any other woman,

it wasn't easy for me to

hide those scars,

To learn to compromise with the stars!

How could I forget, that 'one-sided' battle;

Every moment, he'd dealt me like cattle

Every day, I forced myself to not to feel low.

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 52

Every night, I shared tears with the pillow.

A surprise from my parent got dreadful enough.

the 'partner for life' turned a man with a heart

so tough!

His ferocious crown,

drove me deep down!

I was afraid,

In a terrible state!

Had I got any option?

No.

Hellish was my condition!

After all I couldn't hurt my only parent.

But my heart wasn't still apparent;

Finally, one day my soul cedes,

And then all my plans succeed!

I could bear him banging me no more,

I finally knew how to make his ego broke.

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 53

I dragged him to the court and signed against

him;

He was ruined, literally

for all the hurt he gave me cruelly.

He’d definitely learnt a lesson that day,

to fear karma, as

Everyone has to pay one day.

[Allure- powerful, charming, Imbibe- alcohol

Cedes- give up ]
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 54

The act of sin

Little girl,

Remember you've my love

Heavens don't have it to let me touch my clove.

Among the starry sky

You're my Moon. But love,

Your dad

Who wished you were a lad!

Never loved your presence out on Earth

Denied my appraisals of no worth!

I am sorry, I tried my best!

I lie helpless, mouth stuffed, covered breast.

Unfed I saw you crying whole night,

Your shrinking lips, skin lie dried

Fresh white leather turning to blue

Gradually it turned to some strange of hue

That horrific night, cruel souls went numb,

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 55

To hear your cries, even the Moon didn't come

That dark night was as scary as death,

An afterlife lesson to the rivals of your breath

Their sins and misery had gone too far, no pity in

the heart

Graves came alive that night,

Awaking the devil of the hour

My hands were swaying among the chains,

Symbols of slavery, impotent

To protect my blood and the flesh.

While those greedy eyes await your end.

Lungs stopping puffing,

demons smiling and hugging

I was left grieving, lamenting

In tears, I saw you charring

felt as if my soul was hot

And I could only wish

that they knew

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 56

That a mother has more sides to show-

They were hit in disguise by the victim alive,

They had killed my everything eventually

The end had to be terrible for them,

The villains, the actors of the real sin!

How I wish I could take you up in my hands

And walk you through the blood of them

But you were too small,

Tiny, like your doll.

Your fosters lie down, slain heads

And you in heaven, in peace and rest!

I may have lost you

Because of the act of sin

But world won't know what lies behind my grin.

[Charring- partially burning]

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 57

PHILOSOPHICAL
Veronica and the sword!

In her delicate arms,

Swords were fit

In a child-like age,

Pride was quite uplift

Chrysanthemum, her friend

Lied dead in her feet

Cause Veronica the lead,

Underaged, a teen, she'd become a Queen.

Gradually with time,

The heroin grew smart

Justice became a wand

To drive the cart.

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 58

She was known to the kings

Of the lands so far

For the just decisions

She would make at par

But the only trait that was

the blotch to the Moon

Were the rage and ego

Converting curse of a boon

Well, her only friend Mr. Casc

was loyal who told her

what she’s to grasp

Is avoidable

For the judgments, she grants

Soulful, and hot-tempered

Were sometimes dismayed

And needed to reassessed

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 59

Mr. Casc who was a cascade

Continued to fall nearby her bed

And one day, embracing her smile,

Told the mistress that she was fair

Yet needs someone to share

Her thoughts and prayers

Before yielding a judgment

To fairly any affairs.

But the Queen became one,

Enraged upon the pointed error,

Immediately went up to call her swords

They came running in horror,

Frightful of her reaction.

Next, Slashed down the faithful friend

Slain the flow that led his end!

The brutal reaction

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 60

To the wise advice

Was afflicted by her anger.

Exactly as the old adversary says,

'Things granted before time and age

Builds in the getter, ego, and rage.'

[Cascade- a small waterfall]

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 61

Until

Until you try, you can't run,

Until you fail, you don't learn

Until you see, you won't feel

Until you love, you aren't loved

Until you're proud, none seeks your pride

Until you speak, you aren't heard

Until you walk, you won't reach

Until you smile, nothing makes you laugh

Until you're humble, you aren't really a human!

So, owe to become One, for?

Until you are one, you can't be 'The one'

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 62

The good old days

When I could pass

Even the smallest cage

Without a thought

I could play out in hot

Stress?

It was alienated by our cluster.

Fear was limited up to mom's anger

The dew I used to

wonder

If it's a pearl or some strange water.

However, these craps

I mean these dirty traps

The chilling winter

The soothing spring

The blazing summer

And enchanting autumn

When I could play them all

With no worry at all

I want them back

O I plea,

Someone returns that beautiful tree.

The Pink friend

Not just a doll,

Coloured in pink

But a lively tot, most adoring

This is what she is to me

My lovely doll,

My partner in all.

When I'm dull,

When I'm down,

When I'm rugged,

And I frown,

She-is-there,

Most patiently, waiting to hear me;

Yes of course,

She is always there

With me, for me!

When I'm red in anger,

When I'm blushing with love,

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 65

When I'm reading her life through her unspoken

eyes,

When I'm smiling at

What she brings into my life.

She is there, she is always there,

Laughing at me, with me, for me.

When I'm crying, she laughs;

When I'm smiling, she loves.

Now that my little one,

As you've grown up so fast,

I hand you my future, my present, my past.

She is my friend and now will be yours

No matter you're six or sixty in years.

In me,

this is what had stayed forever,

I wish you love as now you're a mother.

[Tot- a young child]

Useless

Useless are the curtains that cover the windows

and the glimpse of eternal sunshine,

Useless are the beds that part us from the

sensitive touch of the mother earth,

Useless are the clutches that tie the flawless-

wavering hair,

Useless are the cosmetics that hide the real

beauty of a face,

Useless are the swords that divide two thrones,

Useless are the erasers that give us choice in

expression,

Useless are the coolants that have made us

forget the winds,

Useless are the calculators that have blocked the

calculation brains,

Useless are the tight fits that make us look

perfect,

Useless are the razors that are real, sole

cheaters,

Useless are the walls that have created borders,

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 67

Useless are the religions that have created

upper-lower orders,

Useless are those eyes which don't deliberately

see the truth,

Useless are the tongues that are always

gossiping about dung.

But,

Useless is you who don’t live it rightly,

Useless is me who is writing all negativity!

Paw-dorable

I could smell,

Love in the air.

The two falling for each other.

A good scene to be sensed!

Would it be illegal?

To gift them a paw-print,

As in a gift;

*Happy Bark*

A wedding-gift.

Oh yes! They are getting wed.

But, anyone there?

I got to go to vet!

Fact-These sapiens

Are never satied,

But their way of loving

Got me to see Heaven.

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 69

Paw-dorable my Lords!

Extremely well.

I loved them loving

Till,

They started shouting.

How love changes into hate,

And hate into love;

All that they do,

for the sake of ego!

I was the only 'loyal' in the house;

And I'm proud.

Never mind.

I got to go to vet,

Is anyone around?

[Satied- satisfied]

Death and lament

Rises the Sun and Moon every day

But millions of wishes are left unmade.

Death let us apart every night either way

Never knew it would hurt if you'll ever fade.

Now that I lie reminiscing the past

I realised how it always lied to us

Memories were made, innumerable and vast

It all started with talks and laughs

Death is mystery they all always pleaded

I'm still puzzled why you had to leave

To search for you I'll always lead

Lament breaks me off every year this eve

Black as my eyes are the nights of now

Dawn of time has flipped years down.

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 71

Am alone to mourn while lying and bow

Figuring my eyes if they are hexed, I frown.

I've learned from life somethings too merry

But death taught me something that goes

undenied

The cries while having life are gloomy

But the mourns after death are relieving and

defined.

Lifeless we all lie one day

Feeling the pain quietly down the spine

And whenever I lie breathless same way

I am the 'body' none finds so fine.

[Hexed- bewitched, Gloomy- dark]

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 72

It's the God

Now when I know it

The brightest hour dances

Blabbering memories of past (a tide)

With little grace, let me reminisce it

All from that last smile to the first maturity ride.

Tis unforgettable, made of a million smiles

The dreams and moments we stole

After aging years after being a child,

Now that we crave to be on time.

The day, I first knew puberty

The moment, I felt infatuation driven

The night I cried the whole hell out of me

And the dusk which went unplaying with the

kitten.

The same goes the same way for you

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 73

You try to run however away

It comes the same to everyone

As it is the first ride to sway!

So, come on in, utter your heart out

Talk about the song that tunes your thing

Sway upon the rhythm

You find the most stunning

Cause life has in fact got no chill

And once you start with a baby heart

Congratulating yourself on their behalf

Rides like those, mind you, hit you hard

Oh, philosophy is no longer dealt

I say, I've been into each of your shoe

Been a teen for hundred years

And am still alive in stones and hearts of few

Like me or hate me,

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 74

I'll never bear a grudge for you

My kid, you remain always a kid

Hurdles: It's just the ego and your woe

The first ride of you as a tot,

To teenage of cravings and feelings of gut

These mark that you're rising above your past,

Just Stop 'Stop thinking- It's the God.'

[Tis- it is]
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 75

Philosophy of a life

Thy credo in life to sustain breath,

Inhaling attachments, exhaling hurt.

Reminiscing the past, planning dirt.

In creating memories, you're lying to death.

Remember the history, you'll be in memory

thread,

Whatever might you love or hate or flirt,

Everything fades, it's just an excerpt.

Believe or not, you'll once lie in the coffin exactly

of your breadth.

Better you detach and attend the truth,

Life ends in a moment, just needs a blink,

Do what you're made for, succeed in the booth.

Live life second-wise and do not forget to ink,

As you're born with gums, gradually grew a

tooth,

Attain your desires, you'll soon fall pale from

pink.

Some may underestimate your essence,
But trust me, I respect your presence.

with a graceful swirl,
Suddenly has to be a mother
Of a little daughter.
With so many onus
without any bonus;
And then,
she really has no den.
Asleep or awake, in thick and thin,
Her baby is all about she thinks!

You are undulating!

HURT
Broke

I had lost myself somewhere

Somewhere in the midst of his memories

Memories that he gifted me as a curse

A curse that no more hurt.

Hurt is yet another word

Word that no more affect

Affect, my soul, my heart, my bone

My bone is strong, stronger than ever.

Ever before could hardly his memories leave

Leave my heart I beware you now

Now that you've left me, my mind, my soul

My soul commands me "you are dead" and "I

Am alive"

Alive I am, in the World of my own.

Losing your love

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 80

Today, entering the parlour again,

It's a new day next to heavy rain.

I've sobbed. At the kitchen door

And front gate, lying on the muddied floor;

But you, my love, had something else

To gift this big day, bizarre 'n' intense,

That was a slam, indeed am I right?

You show me well why love's a delight.

Dating back to a time

When you're mine, the prime

There was love 'n' zest

And everything the best!

But let's admit it hon.

We now miss the charming Sun;

There's no more savour,

Only lust and favour;

Happy souls have died

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 81

Dancing leaves have dried

The Moon has sharply dulled

And winds have bluntly curled!

The love is in dire

And horrifying attire.

Feeling less to adore

Or maybe nothing more!

Weeping heart and cries,

Lament roads and fries

Everything seems romantic though useless,

stupid

Except for our love

And the blind tot cupid.

[Cupid- God of erotic love]

An exact pal,

In a soothing night!

Immersed in love,

For many, a delight.

From sharing a gum,

To exchanging ring.

How we came so long,

That's just amazing!

I really adore,

The floor

The flower

And yes, that colour of wall.

Your frame,

All that you changed

Four years of love

Hey cherubim, you are a blessing

Dusk and dawn, you’re all about, I'm thinking!

Every now and then,

‘You’ are a thought
But am I elated as that I ought?
"Yes” comes a reply, when I see into your eye!

No matter what comes our way,

We would be like we're in hey.
Your angelic majestic eyes
Relieve me like that do your lies!

That healing touch, not gives me much

But a great feel that all pains heel!

Your dear warming hug,

Seems like my coffee cup
Yep, my favourite
Most loving on Earth
You, to me
Are of an infinite worth.
And then, your surprise gift.
Oh, that kiss, comes like a proof that you are a
bliss!
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 87

I need you for I love you

To the cutest person I know,

It may be a tough day

It may not make way,

Yet, on hearing that giggle

You do while you tickle,

All goes fine,

I'm totally refined!

It's something heavenly,

Is something very gracefully,

carved by the good God,

For me so stupid, always having an ode.

Thank you for lending me an ear,

Cause I have never met one so dear!

Even in the last hours of breath,

I need you,

I want you,

You're suffice for me to die in peace.

You're all I had ever wished to have.

The 80 miles

A ten minutes call,

Or hours of skype.
Calming dialogues & rants n fights.
We always need both!

Caesar salad for breakfast,

Or curious cosy nights!
Maybe a lifetime's too less
Cause it's us and
We both always need both!

This will be endless

Trust me, but we are easy,
We are evergreen,
We are the best!
And to admit,
I hereby give you all the rights to have your
own space.

Open to you.
I love you!
Without any space.
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 89

I believe.

That was serene and that was pure,

That was subtle and that was allure;
When our eyes met,
it was a celebration
for, the moon and the stars,
Planned that with deliberation.
To rejoice and to rejuvenate
Unforgettable, how you serenade!

To my incredible buddy,
You are the thrid of my symphony!

You are the one,

Yes, you are the 'Only one'
The source of all the goods,
that I can't ever extract from those hoods!
Ugh, such a long struggle,
Yet, we somehow snuggle.
Honey, a lot is approaching,
'but I believe'
That would always stir us arouse
And we’ll never lose to the crowd!

I can lose you but the grace you put on my

I can lose you but the lovely time in years

NATIONALISM
Pride with honour

Leading honour,

Selfless service,

Heroic courage,

And a death-or-glory fervour,

This is what make them,

World's best and bravest heroes.

The daring, the firm,

They are the real comrades of this fire free

The youthfulness of these lovers of India,

Paves path to a rationality mood,

Its army has an impressive move.

Against offence, in favour of constitution.

Nature is at its best when producing such boons,

Fearless enough to touch the sky,

Pinnacle of bravery, they have in their sweat.

Whether it's a dazzling day,

Or even be a numbing night,

They are fervid as pole,

They are strongest knight.

There's a sense of pride

Every time I think about their life

They do deserve a day,

At least one day

To thank them, to honour them,

For serving our country,

In the most exceptional way.

This is One religion that learns real sacrifice.

Knowledge of love for nation is all that it thrives.

That blessed promise which they make within

Merry Christmas

"Bye Mary."

"Bye, Mama, Have a good day!"

After the humble farewell, like every other

morning, the husband came wrapped in a
three-piece suit with a sophisticated tie on the
top. But there's something 'special' today,
perhaps, it was Christmas around the corner!

"Listen, Bob, I love you." Leaning towards, she

charmed him.

"Love you too." He replied smiling and they

kissed.

Though she was still, in the same pose,

glowering at him by the corner of the right eye
with the right cheek right in front of his face.

"What? Stop kidding."

"I knew it, you forgot it, Again!"

'Earnest sincere fool', she murmured in her

head and got back to her work.
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 95

After a complete silence of one minute twenty-

nine seconds, a loud sob came from her
direction.

"It's 20th December, you detached loon", she

shouted bewildered.

"Hey, hey, when will you stop being so

pathetic? I just crashed my specs into the bread.
I..."

"Ha-ha", This was perhaps the best part of the

day that made her giggle however with a
twinkle in the eye.

To the best couple in the town, that's a real

occasion. They had completed twenty years
together today while being married for just five
and a half. Not everybody is that lucky but this
pair was as famous as snow all around the city
for their generosity and dedication towards
each other. Perhaps, they were the swan couple
of that little town of Iceland.

The twentieth has a story belonging that every

teen admires to comprehend. It's a tale of a
Christmas of the 90s, the two teens lived in the
same village somewhere in Iceland who never
put out to meet each other in any of the college
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 96

fests. Well but, Christmas was around the

corner and the two had already left for their
homes off the city. Fortune played well to keep
them together and put them on the same
subway. The road was too long to cover alone
so the heroine finally greets the one sitting
beside, gentle co-traveller in the most formal
way historically.

"Good evening sir, where to?"

"Um, do I know you?", he hesitated.

"But no, I am Fiona Williams. Hello."

"Hey, Bob carols."

"You tempted me with the box. Yes, that

chocolate box I mean.", she signalled towards
the wrapped gift box.

"Oh, this! Yeah, this is the Christmas present for

my Grandpa, I'll see him after long. His favourite
Belgium waffles."
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 97

"Great, they are my favourites too. He must be

a good man, I see."

"Yeah, that." He'd smiled at a female for the

first time. Bob was shy and mousy throughout
while Fiona was as lively as a young bird. The
two mismatched but have found a perfect
traveling partner in one another.

Their nonstop murmurs and laughs louder than

the howl halted with the vehicle at a completely
silent but sound place. Their drive was
interrupted by heavy snowfall which restricted
the further journey and they were set to stay in
a guest room nearby. The macho-girl Fiona
sanctioned the idea and got a place in a well-
lighted room in the building. She was as cool as
the temperature outside till a knock on the door
brought a new friend inside her personal lights.
There was no way else, they had to share the
room, maybe because of a shortage of rooms
for so many travellers or because destiny has it
all!

Humble Bob sat in a corner of the couch and

shrank of embarrassment to ask for such favour
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 98

from a stranger friend. Fiona seemed

purposeful and calmed even after interference.

They had a sound sleep later till eight in the

morning, they were but late now, the subway
left with almost all the travellers except two-
Fiona and bob!

They had their Good morning wishes exchanged

with a diplomatic smile and an obvious
excitement of reaching their destinations. They
had almost parted their ways till the moment
the manager rushed to them to inform that
they were ditched. Nothing else could frighten
them at the moment, no lion roars perhaps
too.

Frowned Fiona went up to the room to find out

the map to her destination, she pulled a drawer
then the other and then all of them. She finally
found the shortest route but to her fear,
through the jungle, she'd made her mind
though; While the hero laid himself comfortably
on a seat out of the hotel, waiting for another
bus!
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 99

To which, Fiona gave him an exaggerated look.

"What do you think of me, am I a fool?", she
shouted shrilly.

"What, why are you so pathetic?"

"No one's going to come. No one to help. Come

with me if you want, we'll go through the
shortest route."

The word shortest allured the meek protagonist

and he followed the brave girl with a sensitive
smile. Walking with the dreams of a Merry
Christmas, the smile soon on his face vanished
when he was led through the wild jungle's
wilderness; She had already got an instinct of
his next response but to her astonishment, he
kept on moving quietly, with a frightened face,
profusely sweating forehead, leaned on her side
for support, he kept walking by her side, till
date.

She held his hand and tighter whenever he

shivered of fear. They remained together
throughout the distance to their destination
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 100

and life. They soon entered the village of Bob's

grandpa and realized the never-ending bond
they'd created during the journey.

The bell rang at the door, Fiona rushed to

receive today's grocery and ended up attending
a gorgeous as her bouquet of white roses and
her favourite Belgium waffles instead.

"Happy anniversary love", bob spoke standing

behind her, embracing her, softly kissing her.
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 101

How my grandmother taught me

Fiona was a beautiful and wrinkled lady who

lived like a real woman in this world full of
fairies.

Her husband was everything she wanted thus

undoubtedly, they were a happily engaged
couple till one day her husband Bob died of a
certain type of cancer, which could never be a
reason of breakdown for her as they still
maintained the same connection in her dreams.
I, being her granddaughter usually used to sleep
with her and whenever I woke up in midnight to
honour my thirst, certainly, it was them whom I
heard talking romance in sleep as she used to
do with Bob when he was alive. We, me and my
parents lived in a different city and often visited
her after my grandfather died, all I found in my
visits to her was her passion about getting Bob's
name tattooed on her neck but the pain was
extremely hard to handle at this age so we
always denied to her thoughts about this. But as
said earlier, she lived as a real woman of
staunch confidence and stubborn character, she
wasn't in anyone's control.
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 102

In the month of February, when one day she fell

extremely ill of chill and fever, we rushed to our
family doctor who prescribed a few important
tests one of which was ELISA and I'm afraid, it
turned out to be positive! She had acquired
blood cancer which shattered her each dream.
All we could do was just console her and bring
her dreams to ground.

That day, I saw her bursting in that deadly tears

for the first and the last time

Happy life to you

It's exactly 10:57 pm.

I settled down to have rest after a full tiring day,

and I need him!
"Ugh...where are you?"

"Heard the door latch opening?", he said.

"Stop posing, I know you. Come soon and

straight into the bedroom-but only-with sweet
corns."

"I got them baby!", He said in the sweetest

voice.

Lying on my bed, I'm feeling a bit anxious;

anxiety of some curse has hurled its wrath upon
me like anything and I, waiting for him, lie
almost unconscious on my six by six bed,
playing two-zero-four-eight for I don't want to
sleep. I usually used to do the same when at 2
AM, I'm sleepless and he is snoring at the
highest and sweet corns of course, grant me
instant pleasure when I'm (almost) about to die!
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 104

It was the moment now, I heard someone

unlatching the front door and getting in. I
instantly intuited him coming in and went off
the bed to not to greet him but my love-sweet
corns. But what's that, I suspected two of some
sorts of humane shapes entering the parlour!

I immediately hid myself behind the curtains to

surprise them as 'they' were supposed to be my
brother and his wife who were very late for
their time as agreed and I were to kill them-
with excitement!

The foot-steps sounded much louder than

before and as these guys entered the corridor
to my room, a fleeting impulse crossed my
mind- the door was locked, yes it was locked!

The man in black pants and probably a white t-

shirt, his face covered with some mask of a
criminal, SHOT ME directly into my gut, another
bullet was somewhere near my heart, very
near, sufficient to kill me!

It killed me.
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 105

I know the professionals in white tried their

best, but couldn't resist me or the three of our
buds to move to an eternal world of sleep
immortality.

But...

I wanted to live more, to assure that he is okay!

I wanted to anyhow make it to our fiftieth

anniversary but why, why these bastards didn’t
know that it was our fifth, just fifth!

Sorry honey, I couldn't survive your plans,

I couldn't make it to our Bermuda trip at the

seventieth year as you wished.

Sorry that I couldn't fight those rascals,

That I couldn't accompany you at the meeting

tomorrow,

That, I couldn't save you from this happening,

That I couldn't make it to die for you!

T h e S a g e P i c k s | 106

But remember, Death is a debt we all must pay

and here, your life will pay for our death, A
happy life to you!

Will wait for you,

Don't come soon!

Your loving wife and the three musketeers!

Dear diary,
15 June

It was a hectic day but you know what I saw him

again! I don't know why I go shivering when I
see him, well yes, I'm talking about Arnab!

Oh, I haven't told you about him yet, crazy!

Well, it was on 1st June this year, when I was
traveling back home from the office when Ahna
called me and said mom has got a haemorrhage
attack and is in the hospital!

After Dad's left, things have been difficult, very

difficult for me and when this very situation
occurred to us, I really lost all hopes. Shattered,
I halted in that empty road searching for banks,
ATMs or any possible source of money but to
my bad luck, it was late at night, all banks were
shut and ATMs out of sight!

It was then when I saw my school friend Arnab

moving outside his store, I reminisced his
memories and hesitated for a while to approach
my old school crush for the first in these 20
years. But then I got a call and realized that I
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 101

literally need him, his help. I never knew he

would be so nice and supportive until then, I
narrated him the incident and he cosily replied,
"calm down Ria, don't worry I can help you with
this, let's go" and the very next sentence of his
is everything a patient needs to hear "we'll sort
this together" and he patted my arm with a
tender and gentle touch.

As we drove to the hospital and I sat behind him

on my two wheelers, I was dipped in a million
worries yet could feel that breeze!

Like his nature his blood group too turned out

the universal donor, and as Mom needed blood
urgently, he decided to donate his blood to my
mom without a thought.

Those three critical hours of that night blown

my mind and disturbed me for a whole week
since. I still was in praises for him as he’d saved
mom's life as if she were his own. I couldn't be
better to have his back in that difficult time. I
was still numb; I couldn’t speak to a person
whom I liked so much once yet couldn't confess
because he always deserved better!

It was after three days that mom was

discharged and we returned home with her.
That evening, Arnab called to say, "How's mom
now?"

I swear to my feelings, these three words were

like magic to me. I didn't know how to reply so I
said, "fine, she is fine, thank you!" I was puzzled
to hear him calling my mom '' mom".

Anyways, it was perhaps my last and the

shortest conversation with him. it's been three
weeks since that incident now and I can’t help
not thinking about the smile he carries along.
Maybe for him we are just friends but I'm afraid
to ask you, are we just friends?

Think and Grow against Racism

"Oh! how did you get so black?”

“Were you left in the sun for the time

immemorial?”

“Were you born black?”

...ever came across such questions?

My six-year-old sister did!

Usually, this is not a generous thing to say to

people, yet, there are still some 'ill bred(s)' who
don't believe in having 'manner full
conversations'.

What she did to shut those mouths was

incredible in my terms. Her weapon was-
'Ignorance'.

She never took their barbs to her mind and this

I got to know when one morning, we're halfway
on a bath together. When she, suddenly in her
childish tone generally put up a frightening
question to me which I swear seemed like
T h e S a g e P i c k s | 104

putting myself on a hot seat. Anyways her

suspicion was -"Why am I not fair like you?"

I never felt so ashamed of my complexion till

that very moment.

What all she said afterwards left me astonished!

Didi, why was that aunty blaming me about my

colour? I think, it doesn't matter if I'm black or
white, right?

And my God, her divine smile,

I was left all awkward, shamefaced. I had just

nothing to say, I could no longer look her in
eyes! Obviously, the credit rights are to those
four important people of the society we always
keep worrying about.

Why do we do this?

Do we still need examples to shut our mouths?

Do we still need inspiration to throw the 'worm

of discrimination' out of our minds?

Think, think!

Half-lived

One fine morning,

I woke up to find him by my side,

He slept peacefully,

Snoring loud, careless, with no worry,

And then I just fell in love, one more time!

I looked at him how he tried to look at me and

then hide under the blanket in this foggy
morning so that I won't wake him up to start his
day at the special school. He was always like
that. When the first day I saw him sleeping
peacefully, snoring loud, with no worry in his
crib at the tiddler’s home, I got him!

Yes, this is my child- a special one!

He doesn't feel me like your child does,

He doesn't understand me like yours,

But assuredly, he loves me more than anyone

can love anyone on this planet,

And, this is his birthday today, in fact, the day I

brought him home.

I was half lived till this day five years back, he

completed me, he gave me a reason to be-a
mother.

Happy birthday my best-half.

A complete coincidence or say the power of my

subconscious mind acting to help me get the
best of myself or what I actually deserved and
that's him. I was out in the city to visit an
orphanage; Unfortunately on that one
adventurous day I was without a partner like a
poor pitiable single young lady, but the fate
played well with me, when we got to meet
some unfortunate new-born(s), hit by the luck
landing here in this little hut shed; among which
one was my 'Puru', I named him that, the very
moment I saw him smiling at me, though
looking at the person beside.
The story of this name belongs to yet another
interesting phase of my life when I was in High
School doing my job as a responsible citizen of
mankind when one day I visited a special school
for education of specially-abled children, where
I landed up falling in love with a 'smile' and this
smile was named Puru by his fortunate parents,

hit by some anonymous laughter shocks and

dreadful mood swings, he couldn't understand
then, that I really wanted to stroll hand in hand
with him and wanted to talk about his life, my
bad!

But this day in this little orphanage, I got my

first special love back, though in some other
guise. It's rare, I was lucky indeed!

Well, remember me talking about my fate

playing exemplary that day? Yes, being a single
mother wasn't difficult for me anymore as that
was for my other engaged colleagues. And that
day, I was reborn as the most fortunate single
parent of all time. After so many instructions,
many inquiries and of course lectures,
arguments and whatnot with my parents, those
four-special people of our society and those
highly dignified heads of that orphan home, I
finally got him, got him as my child, my only
child and he got me as his mother, only a
mother!

Respect what He has given us,

Help the ones who really need it.

'Adoption is the best option.'

BLURB at the end:

“All that was rubbish, they all lied. No one's
with me and see, I'm still alive.”

As its name entice, this masterpiece has most

thoughtful and wisely carved words about
everything you see, hear, taste, touch, and feel.
Surely this is full of sense and sensibility.
When communication fails, poetry comes to the
rescue.

The Sage Picks is about us, the world around

us, everything we come across usually, this
book talks about it beautifully. You remember
that toy doll in your childhood or that
thoughtful bubble you had the other day. Oh
wait! Your first love? It has all of that!

From the most attractive dreams to the darkest

nightmares; From being brave to break down,
this is perhaps the perfect tale of 'a girl turned
lady'!

The Author has it in her and she wants her

readers to be enlightened and amazed at one
time!
