Brief description
When using reagents with a high concentration of detergents , it can happen that the cuvettes overflow.
This is because too much foam is created in the tubing and that's why the vacuum pumps get partially
obstructed. In consequence the cuvettes are not completely emptied before the next wash dispensing step
will happen.

The following step by step procedure describes how to change the hardware to overcome this problem using
the HumaStar 100 Hydraulic Modify Kit (16890/255).

Contents of the Hydraulic Modify kit 16890/255

1. Peristaltic pump
2. KNF vacuum pump
2 3. Couple of programmed EPROMs
4. Waste tube 5x8 mm (marked red)
5. Silicon tube (marked "6")
1 6. Two barbed panel fittings with nuts
7. Y-fitting with two short silicon tubes
8. Small sealed tubes

Necessary tools

 Allen key screwdrivers

 Phillips screwdrivers
 Fine sand paper

Step by step instruction

1. Remove the complete cover.

Front side of the hydraulic panel

2. Unscrew and remove the lid closing the peristaltic pump 6 (EV6) slot.

3. Assemble the two barbed panel fittings (part 6) for peristaltic pump 6
(EV6) in positions 11 and 12. 11 12

Please note: Don't forget to assemble the plastic tube holder in position
12 on the back side of the hydraulic panel.

4. Assemble the peristaltic pump (part 1) in the pump 6 (EV6) slot.
Connect the peristaltic tube ends to the fittings (not shown in the picture).

5. Connect the silicon tube, marked "6" (part 5), to fitting 11. 11
Route the tube towards the wash station manifold.

6. On peristaltic pump 7 (PM2A), disconnect the silicon tube on fitting 13

and connect the tube to the free barbed leg of the Y-fitting (part 7).

Please note: Two screws are difficult to remove.

9. Assemble the KNF vacuum pump (part 2).

10. Plug the electrical connector of the KNF vacuum pump 1 (EV7A) to the
wiring EV7A connector.
The EV6 connector, used by the removed EAD vacuum pump remains
free, to be used at the next step.

11. Assemble the hydraulic panel EV6 connector next left to the EV5
connector (not shown in the picture, just indicated by a pointer).
Connect the electrical connector of pump 6 (EV6) to the hydraulic panel
EV6 connector.

12. Connect silicon tube marked "6", coming from peristaltic pump 6 (EV6), to D3
fitting D3.

13. Move the aspiration Teflon tube from A1 to D3.

Please note: Use sand paper to assemble the tube on D3. Avoid any kinks.

14. Close the A1 connector with a small sealed tube (part 8).

Please note: There must be no air leakage.

15. Replace the 4x6 mm waste tube with the 5x8 mm waste tube (part 4),
both marked red.
To disassemble, remove on both ends the black heat shrinking tube and
the adhesive tape fixing underneath.
To assemble, on both ends fix with adhesive tape first and protect by a
strong adhesive tape on top, instead of heat shrinking tube.

Electronic boards panel

16. Open the electronic boards panel.

17. Replace the two HumaStar 100 firmware EPROMs with the new 1.34ZB
(06.05.2015) release ones.
Refer to the service manual for the replacement procedure.

18. Close the electronic boards panel.

19. Assemble the complete cover.
