Special Payments Reward Employees as They Continue

to Serve Through the Pandemic

During these unprecedented times, our employees have stepped up in


unprecedented ways. I want to sincerely thank you for going the extra mile,
time and time again, to serve customers and one another. You continue to
deliver banking that’s a Fifth Third better, and the entire leadership team is
grateful.

As you know, many of our employees are reporting to work each day from
their homes as together, we try to “flatten the curve” of the coronavirus
pandemic. Some employees, because of the nature of their roles, are unable
to work remotely. They arrive every day at banking centers, offices and
operations centers across our footprint ready to work, ready to serve and
ready to keep our economy going.

Because banks are an essential service provider, we must remain open for
business, just as other regulated services such as utilities continue to operate.
Our nation depends on us to keep our doors open, and we do it with pride.

Even so, we recognize that employees who come to work at this time do so
amid personal challenges none of us has faced before. They have our
commitment to keep their office environment clean, sanitized and within social
distancing guidelines. Eligible employees also have our commitment to reward
their diligence with special payments during this unique situation.

The payments will be up to $1,000 for each employee, F band and below, who
is required to report to a Fifth Third location for work. The payments will come
in two installments, one in April and one in May. Employees who work on site
for more than 50% of all relevant pay periods are eligible for $1,000 in total
payments. Those who work on site for less than 50% of relevant pay periods
will be eligible for a minimum of $250 and up to $500 in total payments. As the
health crisis continues to evolve, we will evaluate this program, along with
other benefits.

As we have said many times, our employees are our most important asset,
and it is our ongoing commitment to take the very best care of you – in good
times and in bad. These payments join a host of other benefits that we have
swiftly put into place to help you through the pandemic. Those benefits include
updated policies addressing pay for time you may miss if you get sick or need
to be home to care for a family member with COVID-19, special health care
benefits to ensure medical care you need is covered, plans to reload sick time
later this year and more.

Just as we are proud to be here for our customers and communities, we also
are proud to be here for you.

locations and those who are contributing from home during these challenging
