ABSTRACT

Faridah, Ghina Nur. 2012. The Influence of Students’ Response of Using

Asynchonous Media towards Their Writing Skill (a case study at
second grade of MAS Ar-Rosyidiyah Bandung)

Writing is a way of communication to convey message according to the purpose

and the situation. However in Indonesia, the students are lack of motivation to write in
English language. The students must be given motivation to make them enjoy writing in
English language, and chances of writing are limited. To solve the problem in writing,
the asynchronous media can be one of media for their writing in order to make the
students interesting to write English.
This final project focuses on the use of asynchronous as media of teaching
writing to improve students’ writing skill at second grade of MAS Ar-Rosyidiyah
Bandung. The purpose of the study aim to know the students’ response towards writing
skill using asynchronous media, the students’ writing skill, and the influence of
students’ response of using asynchronous media towards students’ writing skill.
The method of this research used the statistic correlation based on quantitative
data. By using technique observation, questioner and test the subject of research have
been identified directly and factually. The quantitative data gained through observation
and quantitative used to know the variable X and variable Y by spreading out students’
response of using asynchronous media with questioner and writing test to 60 students of
second grade at MAS Ar-Rosyidiyah Cibiru Bandung.
The result of this research is analyzed by partial statistical analysis and
correlation analysis. Related to this, it is known that the use of asynchonous media
towards students’ writing skill shows that the score in the interval of 4.136-4.243 it can
be interpreted average score and students’ writing skill have enough score 55.6. The
correlation between variable X and variable Y is enough (0.65), it lies in the interval
0.40-0.70. The percentage of the influence of students’ response of using asynchronous
towards their writing skill is 42.25%. It means that there is correlation between the uses
of asynchronous media towards students’ writing skill. It is suggested that the teacher
used asynchronous as a media is one of media for teaching writing English because of
with media the students can express their writing.
