From Ibn Umar who said it was very rare that the Messenger of Allaah ﷺwould
stand up from a gathering until he had made Dua with these statements for his
Companions:
َ علَى َم ْن
َو َل ت َ ْج َع ْل،عا َدانَا ُ َوا ْن،ظلَ َمنَا
َ ص ْرنَا َ اج َع ْل ثَأ ْ َرنَا
َ علَى َم ْن َ اج َع ْلهُ ْال َو ِار
ْ َو،ث ِمنَّا ْ َو
‘O Allaah make us have fear of You of what comes between us and disobedience
to You.
And from obedience to You with that which will make us reach Paradise. And
And make our hatred upon the one who oppressed us.
And give us victory upon the one who has enmity to us.
And do not place our calamities in our religion, and do not make the worldly
matters our greatest concern, nor the aim of our knowledge, and do not place
over us the one who does not have mercy upon us.'
waj-al tha-arna ala mun thalamana, wan-surna ala mun A'addaana wa laa Taj'al
[Declared Hasan by Tirmidhi in kitab ad-Dawaat, chapter Haddathna Ali bin Hajr, no. 3502, Nisa'ee in
al- Kubra 6/106 Al-Hakim 1/528 , Ibn sunni in amal al-Yawm wa Layla no. 445 , he authenticated it and
Dhahabi agreed with him, Albaani declared it to be Hasan in Saheeh Tirmidhi 3/168 and in Saheeh al-
Jama no.1268.]
'From the great supplications which the Messenger of Allaah sallAllaahu alayhi
Tirmidhi and others from the hadeeth of Abdullaah bin Umar radiAllaahu anhu.

'O Allaah make us have fear of You of what comes between us and disobedience
to You.'
Means: give us a portion and share of having fear of You. This fear is that what is
linked with having greatness of Allaah and knowing Him -far is He from
imperfection- which would be a barrier for us and a prevention from falling into
In this is proof that having fear of Allaah is from the greatest deterrents and
Allaah says:
《It is only those who have knowledge among His slaves that fear Allah.》 So
every time a slave of Allaah increases his knowing/knowledge about Allaah then
his fear of Allaah increases and his turning to His obedience and distancing from

Meaning: make easy for me from obedience to You which will be a means to gain
Your pleasure and reach Your Paradise which You have prepared for Your pious

completeness is that the command is with Allaah firstly and lastly, and that
Allaah -far is He from imperfection- controls the matters of the creation how He
wills and executes amongst them what He wants, with that which is a means to
lessen problems and calamities which may occur for a person in this life.

'And bless us in our hearing and our sight, and our strength as long as you give
us life.'
Here a person requests from Allaah that his hearing, sight and the rest of his
strength remains, so he can be blessed with these during his whole life.
Regarding:
"الوارث منَّا
َ "واج َع ْله
Means that make this blessing and enjoyment of the senses and strength
preserved and continuous and let it remain healthy and good until I die.
Regarding:
Means give us the capability to take revenge upon the one who oppressed us
without overstepping so that we end up taking revenge against other than the
oppressor.
Regarding:
'And give us victory upon the one who has enmity to us'
Regarding:
Meaning: do not afflict us with that which causes deficiency in our Deen and that
actions. This is because a calamity in the religion is the worst of calamities and
there is nothing that can substitute for it, in contrast to calamities in the Duniya.'
Regarding:
"همنا
ِ "ول تجعل الدنيا أكبر
Meaning that do not make our main aim and our main concern to be for the
Duniya.
This is because for whoever the Duniya is the greatest aim then he is isolated
from the Hereafter. In this is a proof that a little stress is bound to occur in

By this we end our comments about this great Dua, which is from the Jawama al-
Kalim (eloquent speech) of the Prophet sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam, and it is the

حسنه الترمذي ،كتاب الدعوات ،باب حدثنا علي بن حجر ،برقم ، 3502والنسائي في الكبرى، 6/ 106،
والحاكم ، 1/528،وابن السني في عمل اليوم والليلة ،برقم ، 445وصححه ووافقه الذهبي ،وحسنه األلباني
ومن الدعوات العظيمة التي كان يختم بها رسول هللا صلى هللا عليه وسلم كثيرا من مجالسه ،ما رواه الترمذي
وغيره

من حديث عبد هللا بن عمر رضي هللا عنهما قال" :قَلَّ َما َكانَ َر ُ
سو ُل هللاِ صلى هللا عليه وسلم َيقُو ُم ِم ْن َمجْ ِلس
عتِكَ
طا َ ص َحابِ ِه :اللَّ ُه َّم ا ْق ِس ْم لَنَا ِم ْن َخ ْشيَتِكَ َما يَ ُحو ُل بَ ْينَنَا َوبَيْنَ َمعَ ِ
اصيكَ َ ،و ِم ْن َ ت أل َ ْ َحتَّى يَ ْد ُ
عو بِ َه َؤلَ ِء ال َّد َ
ع َوا ِ
علَى َم ْن َ
عا َدانَاَ ،ولَ تَجْ عَ ْل ُم ِ
صيبَتَنَا فِي ظلَ َمنَاَ ،وا ْن ُ
ص ْرنَا َ ث ِمنَّاَ ،واجْ عَ ْل ثَأ ْ َرنَا َ
علَى َم ْن َ أَحْ يَ ْيتَنَاَ ،واجْ عَ ْلهُ َ

الخوف المقرون بالتعظيم هلل ومعرفته سبحانه ـ ما يكون حاجزا لنا ومانعا من الوقوع في المعاصي والذنوب
أن خشيةَ هللا أعظ ُم رادع وحاجز لإلنسان عن الوقوع في الذنوب ،وهللا يقول :
واآلثام ،وهذا فيه دللة على َّ
ّللا ِم ْن ِعبَا ِد ِه ْالعُلَ َما ُء } ،فكلَّما ازدادت معرفة العبد باهلل ازداد خشية هلل وإقبال على طاعته وبُعدا
{ ِإنَّ َما يَ ْخشَى َّ َ
عن معاصيه.
األمر
َ ت ال ُّد ْنيَا "أي :اقسم لنا من اليقين وهو تمام العلم وكماله َّ
بأن علَ ْينَا ُم ِ
صيبا ِ ين َما ت ُ َه ِو ُن بِ ِه َ
وقوله" َ :و ِمنَ اليَ ِق ِ
أمور الخالئق كيف يشاء ويقضي فيهم ما يريد ما يكون سببا لتهوين
َ هلل من قبل ومن بعد ،وأنَّه سبحانه يُدبِر
المصائب والنوازل التي قد تح ُّل باإلنسان في هذه الحياة ،واليقين كلَّما قوي في اإلنسان كان ذلك فيه أدعى
ويسلم.
ِ أن ك َّل ما أصابه إنَّما هو من عند هللا ،فيرضى
إلى الصبر على البالء؛ لعلم الموقن َّ

ارنَاَ ،وقُ َّو ِتنَا َما أَحْ يَ ْيتَنَا "فيه سؤال هللا أن يبقي له السمع والبصر وسائر القوى؛
ص ِوقوله" َ :و َم ِت ْعنَا بِأ َ ْس َما ِعنَاَ ،وأ َ ْب َ
إلى أن أموت.
وقوله" :واجعل ثأرنا على من ظلمنا "أي :وفِقنا لألخذ بثأرنا ِم َّمن ظلمنا ،دون أن نتعدَّى فنأخذ بالثأر من غير
الظالم.
وقوله" :وانصرنا على من عادانا "أي :اكتب لنا النصر على األعداء.
وقوله" :ول تجعل مصيبتنا في ديننا "أي :ل تُصبنا بما ينقص ديننا ويُذهبه من اعتقاد سيِء أو تقصير في
ألن المصيبةَ في الدِين أعظ ُم المصائب وليس عنها ِع َوض ،خالف المصيبة
الطاعة أو فعل للحرام ،وذلك َّ
في الدنيا.
أكبر قصده همنا "أي :ل تجعل أكبر قصدنا وحزننا ألجل الدنيا؛ َّ
ألن َمن كان َ وقوله" :ول تجعل الدنيا أكبر ِ
الهم ِم َّما ل ب َّد منه في أمر المعاش ُمر َّخص الدنيا فهو بمعزل عن اآلخرة ،وفي هذا دللة على َّ
أن القلي َل من ِ
فيه.
وبهذا ينتهي الكالم على هذا الدعاء العظيم ،وهو من جوامع كلم النَّ ِبي ِ صلى هللا عليه وسلم ،وبه مسكُ الختام،
