1. Define the nature and function of communication


The nature of communication means that the message can be received and interpreted by
the recipient and the message sent must be clear so that the recipient can understand and
know the purpose of the message.

The function of communication can be controlling, giving motivation, expressing feelings,


and giving information.

2. Compare and contrast methods of interpersonal communication

Compare methods of Interpersonal Communication consist of messages, a message is


something that you want to convey. The message is divided into 3 types of encoding,
decoding, and channel.

Contrast methods:
Communication prosses: The seven elements involved in transferring meaning from one
person to another.
Noise: Any disturbances that interfere with the transmission, receipt, or feedback of a
message.

3. The following are the list of common Barriers in communication :


1. The use of jargon.
2. Emotional barriers and taboos
3. Lack of attention, interest, distractions, or irrelevance to the receiver
4. Differences in perception and viewpoint.
5. Physical disabilities such as hearing problems or speech difficulties.
6. Physical barriers to non-verbal communication
7. Language differences and the difficulty in understanding unfamiliar accents.
8. Expectations and prejudices which may lead to false assumptions or stereotyping.
9. Cultural Differences

How to overcome barriers in communication :

1. Have Clarity In Your Thoughts


2. Understand the needs of your audience
3. Seek the Advice of others before Communicating
4. Have a Feedback from the receiver
5. Retain Consistency about the Message
6. Keep a Routine check on the communication system
7. Make use of the body language
8. Avoid overloading too much of information
9. Reduce the level of noise as far as possible
10. Communication chain should be short
4. Explain how communication can flow most effectively in organizations
Effective communication is one of the most important factors in creating an efficient work
environment. Being able to communicate effectively across an organization, from the
highest levels to the lowest levels, creates an environment that promotes productivity and
efficiency. Employees are better able to understand each other, which provides an increase
to office morale and unity.

5. Describe how technology affects managerial communication and organizations


Technology changed the way organizational members communicate. There are networked
system that keeps organizational’s computers to linked, so the members can communicate
with each other easily and can access information quickly.

Question 2

1. For me, maybe I will combine intrinsic and extrinsic motivation because in my opinion these
two things are very important and can improve work skills. Intrinsic motivation is needed to
build trust, relationships, and a good environment for employees. while extrinsic motivation
is also needed because salaries and rewards are important and valuable things for
employees. if these two motivations are met we can definitely retain employees for a long
period of time.

2. Motivation can be further divided into two different types:


1. Instrinsic Motivation
The act of being motivated by internal factors to perform certain actions and behavior is
called intrinsic motivation. In other words, intrinsic motivation means doing something
just because you want to. There is neither pressure nor any sort of reward for your
actions, but you still do them because you want to or you believe it’s the right thing to
do.
2. Extrinsic Motivation
Whenever an individual performs an action or behavior because the individual is
affected by the eternal factors such as rewards or punishments, such form of motivation
is called extrinsic motivation. Whenever a person is motivated by external factors,
whether to avoid negative consequences or to achieve positive outcomes, it is wholly
considered to be extrinsic motivation.
