maintenance Supports real-time monitoring by the network
management system (NMS).

Spectrum Analysis and Interference Detection:

Industry-leading and reliable scans the spectrum in the radio environment in real
features time, detects interference, identifies the interference
type, and provides customized interference alarm
reporting to visualize the network quality and improve
network operation and maintenance.
Low Rate User Suppression: sets thresholds to
reduce the number of times low rate users are
scheduled and the duration in which low rate users
occupy air interface resources. In this way, remaining
air interface resources can be allocated to high rate
users, making full use of air interface resources and
improving system capacity without affecting user
experience of low rate users.
Intelligent Frequency Band Navigation: When a
dual-band STA is covered by an AP working at the
2.4 GHz band and an AP working at the 5 GHz band,
the STA is preferentially associated with the AP
working at the 5 GHz band to offload the traffic of the
AP working at the 2.4 GHz band. In this way, the two
band resources are fully utilized.
Intelligent Load Balancing: If multiple APs cover a STA, the
AC decides the light-loaded AP for STA access based on AP
load, such as the number of associated STAs, AP traffic, and
duty cycle.
Hotspot 2.0: aiming to provide users cellular-like experiences,
uses the IEEE 802.11u standard to provide convenient and
secure Wi-Fi access, offloading traffic on the macro network,
and raising user loyalty for operators. Hotspot 2.0-IEEE
802.11u supports automatic network discovery and selection,
WPA2 and 802.1X EAP authentication.

The WA251DK-NE is an outdoor high-performance AP complying with IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n standards.

Using integrated smart antennas, the AP supports 3x3 MIMO-OFDM and two frequency bands: 2.4 GHz and 5
GHz. The AP also supports PoE+ switches and DC/PoE+ adapters. The WA251DK-NE is designed to help
operators, Internet service providers (ISPs), and enterprises build a high performance network giving them a
competitive edge.
The WA251DK-NE on a wireless local area network (WLAN) has the following advantages:
 High security

The WA251DK-NE supports a variety of authentication and encryption modes:
WEP authentication and encryption
WPA/WPA2 authentication and encryption
 Superb environment adaptability
The WA251DK-NE meets IP66 requirements and ensures normal transmission of radio signals in an
outdoor environment.
 Easy device management and maintenance
The WA251DK-NE is a fit AP managed by an AC. After being powered on, the AP automatically
discovers the AC and loads necessary configurations from it. Authentication, AP management, security protocol
configuration, and routing are performed by the AC, while the AP status is monitored in real time by the NMS.
This simplifies AP management and maintenance. In addition, the WA251DK-NE automatically manages
channel and frequency adjustment and supports in-service fast roaming.

Typical Networking
Figure 1 shows the typical networking of the WA251DK-NE.

AC: access controller in the OSS: operations support
WLAN system

On this network, the WA251DK-NE (a fit AP) functions as a bridge used to forward data. The AC is
responsible for user access, authentication, AP management, and security protocol configuration.
Developed as an outdoor coverage device, the WA251DK-NE can be applied in various WLAN
enhancement scenarios like hot spots in densely populated urban areas, continuous coverage for streets, indoor
coverage provided by outdoor devices in residential areas and coverage in isolated and rural areas.
