Hi, I am a 25 year old male, was in pretty good health about 1 year ago.. I have had reflux for years, and in 2007 it got
progressively worse.. I tried everything from all PPI's, to OTC meds, to pickle juice, etc.. Nothing worked..
I went to my GI who performed Endoscopy, Bravo test, Motility study.. My reflux results came back as the worst results possible, and I was
recommended for the Nissen Fundoplication surgery to correct it..
I spent a few months thinking it over, and finally opted for it. I met with a local surgeon and scheduled my surgery back in August 23, 2007.. After
the surgery I had the typical Nausea, not able to eat much, etc.. I got clusters of blood clots in both my lungs, and left lung collapse, and
pneumonia..
I spent 8 days straight in ICU and when I got out, I still haven't been the same.. I can't eat much at any given time, I get nauseated a lot, and I'm
still on blood thinners so I can't drink anything like Ensure because it has vitamin K..
I am 5'6", and used to weigh 145 "pre-surgery" I now weigh 117, and can't seem to gain any weight what so ever!.. I get burning in my throat a
lot, and an occasional cough.. I feel it's heartburn/reflux coming back, and I'm so frustrated, I went through hell for that surgery and I'm not much
better right now 6 months post-op..
my surgeon waited till "after" surgery to tell me he "intentionally" tied my wrap a little loose to allow me to burp, but I feel this is letting acid up..
He swears I am "not" having heartburn/reflux, and told me not to come back, and he can't do anything..
I am so frustrated, I can't eat much at all, I get horrible abdominal pains all the time, the burning gets really bad at times, and more... What should
I do? Anyone else have this surgery and have the same problems?
I have just been diagnosed with Gerd. The doctor has put me on Pantopazole.
Since I have been on it (5wks) I have severe pain in my back. Also I noticed a lot of flatulence since being on this pill.
The severe pain in the back is awful, can barely get out of car or chairs, but I have had only 1 Gerd attack since I have been on it.
The Gerd pain that I get is when I eat, it feels like I swallowed a cough drop whole. The pain goes all the way slooowly down hurting all the while,
then gets stuck in between breast.
Since I have already had a heart attack, I knew it wasn't that.

I have been taking Protonix for 4 yrs but recently when I refilled my prescription, without asking me or telling me the Pharmacist
gave me the generic instead.
This Protonix generic just came out to the market recently.
I didn't know that the Pharmacist gave me the generic until 2 weeks later, my voice became so hoarse that it was difficult for me to communicate
with others.
One day, when I was going to swallow the generic pill, I just noticed that even though the size is the same, the color is yellowish. (Protonix pill is
white). Then I realized I have been taking the generic pills. I stopped it right away and got the real Protonix and now my voice is almost back to
normal again.
If you got generic Protonix and your voice is getting hoarse, stop right away and demand to get the real Protonix with your Pharmacist.
They always say that generic is the same with the real one, but everybody has different reaction with certain drugs. So watch out!

Note: I am 21 years old in good shape. The pain started immediately after I smoked using the method I have stated in the
following.
Alright, well about a month ago I smoked some marijuana which I believe to be laced with cocaine. I smoked the marijuana in a manner that I
normally don't smoke, which was very fast - waiting just a few seconds between hits. I believe that it was laced with something because the odor
smelled different (pretty bad) after it was smoked. I have had chest pain since that day. I have gone to the hospital (emergency room about 1
week after this happened) and my family doctor... I can play basketball with no problems. The hospital took blood tests and said that they thought
it was musculoskeletal because a enzyme reading was higher than normal (may of not been an enzyme reading... but they said one reading was
high so it was probably the reading which had to do with muscular problems). My family doctor thought I had symptoms of GERD/Acid reflux and
gave me some A/R pills. They seemed to alleviate my pain the first day, but it has come back (probably due to alcohol consumption). I am
wondering if it is possible that from smoking marijuana in this manner (quite fast) is there a chance I caused a muscle spasm within my body.
Also, what are some side effects of smoking marijuana laced specifically with cocaine. I do not mean side effects of marijuana, but I am not sure
if this pot was actually laced or not so if there is such things as muscle spasms or a hiatal hernia from smoking marijuana quickly, or any other
combustion product I would be interested to hear them. The pain is on the left side of my chest near my heart - I have gotten an ECG, blood
tests, etc. and they say nothing is wrong with me. The pain is mild but constant. Sometimes below the breastbone/sternum area is sensitive to
the touch (I have to push in to feel a mild amount of pain). Also, sometimes the pain radiates from the left side of my chest to the right side. The
pain seems to not be there for the first few minutes I wake up but when I start to move the fullness sensation comes back. It is not sharp or
anything, it just feels full.
I may be rambling in this post, but essentially my questions are:
1. What are the possible side effects of smoking marijuana laced with cocaine
2. Are there possibilities of muscle spams/hiatal hernias/etc happening when you smoke marijuana/any other combustion product very quickly (a
hit every 5 or so seconds)
3. Has anyone ever felt this fullness sensation in their chest around the bottom/side of their left breastbone (the side toward the middle of your
chest)? Is that common with GERD/Acid Reflux?
Help me please. If there are any questions I will check back and answer them. I understand that smoking causes cancer. I do not smoke
regularly. I am speaking of other problems besides cancer. Thanks (I am desperate for answers so I copied a post that I made in general health
care in here as well)
I was diagnosed with Barrettes Esophagus last year. I also have a problem with narrowing of the esophagus. This past weekend
I woke up with a terrible pain in the middle of my back which then went into my throat and jaw. Of coarse I immediately thought I was having a
heart attach. I went to the hospital and was admitted for testing. All the tests came back normal. I asked if this could be something to do with my
Barretts and was told they were not sure and that I was not admitted for this issue so I would have to follow up with my doctor. As most of you
know it is hard to get into see these guys. I am not able to get in for another week. I am still having this horrible pain. It feels like I have a softball
stuck in my esophagus and like an elephant is sitting on my chest.
Has anyone else had these sytoms?

Hello ALL
I have been prescribed a short dose of Prednisone from my bronchitis (40mg for 3 days, 20mg for 3 days, and 10mg for 3 days). I have never
taken this drug before and am 'nervous'. Any suggestions on how to keep it from exacerbating my reflux? I start taking it with breakfast
tomorrow.
Thanks!
Vanessa
