FOREWORD
This revision of British Standard A.110 : 1954 has been prepared to relate the standard to the relevant requirements of
British Standard A.100. Additionally, provision has been made for the manufacture of t h e m from S.96 material.
Reference is made in the standard to the following British Standards:

NOTE. The values in British units are to be regarded as the standard. A table is given in the appendix to provide a ready means of calculating
the approximate millirnetre equivalents of the inch dimensions. More accurate conversions should be based on the tables in B.S. 350.

SPECIFICATION
SCOPE
1. This British Standard specifies the materials, dimen-
sions, finish and inspection requirements for slotted and
thin steel nuts with Unified hexagons and Uni6ed threads
for use with shear bolts for aircraft.
GENERALREQUIREMENTS
2. The nuts shail comply with the relevant requirements
of Part 1 of British Standard A. 100 in respect of manufac-
ture, screw threads, anti-corrosion treatment, identification
and marking.
MATERIAL AND MANURACïURE
3. a. The nuts shall be machined from bright drawn bars
which comply with the latest issue of one of the following
British Standards:

6. The nuts shall be hexagonal and chamfered as shown
in Figs, 1 and 2.
DIMENSIONS
4. All íìnished nuts, after the application of the anti-
corrosion coating, shall conform to the dimensions and
tolerances given in Tables 1 or 2.
SCREW THREADS
5. The nuts shall have Unified threads of the form and
class of fit specified in the relevant requirements of British
Standard A.100, Part 1.
ANTI-CORROSION TREATMENT
6. Ail finished nuts shail be coated with cadmium. The
thickness and porosity tests of D.T.D. 904 are not applic-
