INTRODUCTION
1. FOREWORD

Everything to winch precaution should be by all means taken when doing the timber

collecting works has been stated in this manual. Therefore please be sure to read them

together with the operating manual complied for machine body.

The operator and maintenance man shall frequently read this book before
operating and maintaining this machine.

As a handbook, please keep this book near the machine, so that all persons
who handle the machine may read it.

• Please do not use this product until you master the explanations
herein. Please keep this book always read to your hand, and read it
repeatedly.

• When this book is lost/damaged, please immediately order a new one

to our company or our sales and service agent.

• When this product is transferred to another owner please deliver this

3. INTRODUCTION

3.1 Specified work.

This product shall be used for the following work only.

Timber collecting work using a winch

3.2 Special features of the machine

(1) Please read the operating manual about the vehicle.

(2) Winch has been installed.
(3) Drum able to collect timbers by stretching a rope.

DANGER

• For timber collecting work, please be sure to do the work with one
end of the log coming into contact with ground.
• Suspending the log midair is forbidden, because there is a risk
that the same log will fall down due to the increasing load of the
wire.

WARNING

• Timber collecting shall be carried out in the longitudinal direction of

the machine body.

WARNING

• Please do not carry out modification that is not recommended by

Komatsu, since it may cause problem of safety.

5.1 Arm Guide

Arm guide consists of pulley, frame, and pulley guard.

• Be careful with fingers when set up pulley.

5.2 Winch
Winch consists of hydraulic motor and drum. Speed of hydraulic motor, can be adjusted by
pedal.

• Please do not work in a disorder winding condition

5.3 Operating the Winch

! CAUTION

Before operating the winch, please be sure to go round for inspection to make
sure the safety condition.

(1) To confirm the safety of timber colleting method, pulley etc.

(2) To adjust the tension of wire rope. Tension adjustment is possible by

operating the equipments (arm and boom) or upper part swing and lower part
travel. However, please do not impose tension force that may increase the
tension of the wire ropes excessively, causing instability to the machine.

6. CAUTIONS DURING OPERATION

6.1 Midair suspending work is forbidden

DANGER

Suspending log midair is very dangerous.

6.2 Forced Operation

DANGER

Pulling out trees/stump with the work by traveling is forbidden.

6.3 Pulling out the firm root is forbidden

DANGER

Pulling out or shake the firm roots, will give excessive

bending to horn of bucket, boom and arm.

6.4 Lifting logs at maximum reach by horn of bucket is forbidden

DANGER

Lifting logs at maximum reach is dangerous for

stability of machine.

6.5 Hitting operation is forbidden

Hitting operation can cause high stress.

6.7 Traveling or swinging operation when logs condition are not balance.

6.8 Traveling over obstacles (stone / block) in high speed is forbidden.

This operation will give excessive impact to revolving frame

and winch bracket.

6.9 Checking around

(1) To check whether the wire rope is not disorderly wound.
(2)

DANGER

When many people are working, please make sure the safety of everyone when starting or
stopping the work, by giving clear instruction.

Do not stay near a rotating drum because it’s dangerous.

(3) To check whether the ropes do not intersect between the pulley on the arm guide and the
work equipment

(4) To check the condition around the machine.

CAUTION

Please start the operation after sufficient checking

the rolling-out and the rolling-in of the wire rope

 6. CAUTIONS DURING OPERATION

CAUTION

When using endless wire rope, please work while checking the twisting of the
wire rope because the wire rope intersects easily.
In the case of twisting, please stop the work immediately and do the repair.

(5) Rolling out before preparing the rope

Since drum is not able to “free fall”, first roll out the wire rope until arm guide, after the wire
rope goes through the pulley on the arm, please roll out the wire rope by rolling-out
operation.

6. CAUTIONS DURING OPERATION
(6) Location where to put the machine

CAUTION

• Please put the machine on a firm ground where the crawler

will not submerge, even though a load works on the
machine.
• The place where the machine is put must be level/horizontal.
• It is dangerous to use the machine if the body is titled to the
direction of timber collecting, because the machine will
tumble over.

DANGER

When collecting timber downward a hill, please prevent the logs from rushing down to
the machine.
Example: the place where the machine is put is higher than the collected timber.

 6. CAUTIONS DURING OPERATION

(6). To prevent winding (rolling) of the wire rope

If timber collecting is done with disorder winding condition, the wire rope
may be broken, and clamp in the drum. Therefore never collect timber
when the wire rope is disorderly rolled.

If the wire rope is in a condition as shown in drawing below, it will be disorderly rolled.
Therefore please position the pulley appropriately or the working equipment at suitable
height to prevent disorder rolling.

7. LUBRICATION EVERY 100 HOURS

WARNING

• If there is unusual noise at several point of greasing, add grease for

every 10 hours regardless periodically greasing interval.
• For first 50 hours operation, please add grease for every 10 hours.
• After digging operation at wet site, always add grease to pins
submerged.

(1) Set up the machine like as shown at the picture below.

(2) Add grease through fitting grease as shown by arrow.
(3) After that clean all residue from point of grease.
