Arts

1. Language Arts (Writing a Novel) – Academic Language is more often use in writing a novel. The
word choice should be precise and clear. And usually in a novel the author use third person
rather than first person perspective.
2. Performing Arts (Theatre play) – In Theatre also they may be use academic language when the
lines or script were so deep or complex in order to fill the character’s performance in a play.

Business

1. Formal Meetings – I can say that academic language is applicable in meetings of a business
because you need to be more formal with the conversations that you will be initiating.
2. Business Proposals – When doing a business proposal, you need to have a proper presentation
to present with formal people. Being focused means that you have clear goals and objectives.

Law

1. Court Hearing – when you are a lawyer you really need to be ready to justify your client side
with enough evidences that you’ll present in the court and you need to be more careful on what
you are saying. Because you are talking to professionals and higher position than you so it’s a
must to use academic language.
2. Legal act

Philosophy

1. Logic (reasoning) – It uses more complex words because it able you to think much deeper and
focus on the main objectives.
2. Epistemology – it is the study of knowledge so here we tackled more seriously because it talks
about truth, belief and justification. So we can also use academic language here to justify our
claims.

Politics

1. SONA – it is a constitutional obligation and yearly tradition, wherein the President will deliver his
prepared speech about the status of the country and government’s agenda. Academic Language
is applicable here when you’re making a speech that you’ll be delivering with high – respected
people.
2. Campaign – also in politics one of example of when is academic language use, will be political
campaign. When there’s someone who runs for a certain position, they need to think a good
strategy to touch voters in such a way.

Religion

1. Religious Studies – in academic field it is devoted to research into religious beliefs, behavior,
institutions. It also describes how religion works in our daily lives.
2. Church Masses – When Pastors or Priests start to preach, they will share about what they
believe. Since it is a high standard because it is holy and talks about God, you need some
knowledge about it.
Science

1. Science Classes - Science at school level is largely viewed as a practical subject that is taught
using experiments, for instance. But effective teaching and learning requires language, whether
it’s written in textbooks or shared orally during classroom discussions.
2. Theories – When making a theory make sure that it is well explained and concise.

Vocational – Tech

1. Trainings – this is where academic language is concerned. It helps someone to develop skills and
add more information that will really help someone who wants to enter the world of
professionals.

- To review means to look back over something for evaluation or memory. Or critique something
like book, products or restaurants.

Examples of review:

There’s a lot of types of a review. We have Literature Review, Book Review, Product Review, Article
Review, Movie Review etc. Its either you will give critique or judgement on something or you will recall
or look back on something for evaluation.
