Student Politics

1, Intoduction: At times it is said that “not a live one, but a rotten snail cuts one’s
leg”. The proverb might become true in case of politics of the student of the
Bangladesh, because of the present situations of student politics is very bad.
Though student doing there politics for the well being of the student and as well as
for the country but they doing there politics for the money power. At past the
student political organizations does more bad work than good work. But in the
present student political organizations doing more evil deeds. Here I am going to
discuss about four stages of student politics of Bangladesh. These are:

1947 to 1971

1942 to 1980

1981 to 1990 &

1991 to 2010

1.2 situations of 1947 to 1971: After the partition of Indian subcontinent the
pakistani leader Mohammad Ali Jinnah starting the healthy student plitics. During
his period the student politics was going very good. When he declared the urdu as
only the mother tongue of the pakistan, the all student political organizations of
Pakistan protest this. They work hand to hand against this type of illegal
announcement and the great sacrifice of the student, we got bangle as our mother
tongue.

In 1969 the student political organizations of East Paksitan are contributed very
much. As we all know in our liberation war the student political organization were
contributed very much. They protest the Pakistani military and war against them.
They were the main power of our independence. They work together for our
country to forgotten the party interest.

At the time of Gen. Ayub khan student poitics is polluted very much. He founded a
student organizations name National Student Front (NSF) , and as all we know
that NSF is the organizations which organization polluted our student poitics
badly. Ayub Khan gave them hoodlum money, arms and ammunitions for keep
herself in power. At this time the student poitical organizations were getting started
to polluting.

The leader of a AL thinking that NSF is used arm and money they will be most
poerful, that’s why AL also starting to used money and arms for the power. After
this type of decision of AL the student politics are loosing the brilliant student in
field of politics and the student poitics also looses the good and honest student in
the field of student poitics. This time was the birth time of our student poitics.

Situations of 1972 to 1980: After the independence of Bangladesh the president of

Bangladesh name Seikh Mojib also try to be autocratic and he also follow the same
theory of Gen. Ayub Khan. He also created a force name rakshi bahini, and this
forced killed the notorious student leader of JSD. He just destroyed the talented
student leader.

After the tragic death of Sheikh Mujib Ziaur Rahman became the president of
Bangldesh. He started the democracy. He gave the right to other parties doing
politics in Bangladesh. He also formed political parties named Bangladesh
Nationalist Party (BNP). He tried to take the notorious student in his party so that
his student organiztions took the strong position, as per as student poitics will be
healthy. He also wanted that his student organization will be powerful student
organizations, for this reason he give his student organizations money and arms.
This is also the starting of bad student poitics in Bangladesh. At the time of Ziaur
Rahman the leader of the other student poitical organizations were at very risky
positions. He always try that the other party never be powerful, that is the reason
he create pressure the other leader that they are attend in his student organization.

But that time the brilliant student were in politics and they try to do something
good for our country. At this time the main work of student poitical organizations
is that, they always try to help the student who coming outside the city, because
those type of student were don’t know that how to afford her educational expenses,
what is the rules of the university and how they get the tution. The political
organization help them how to find tution, how to get the residential facility etc.
Here I want to tell that those time the person who is in politics he is a student.

Situations of 1981 to 1990: After the tragic death of Ziaur Rahman, Gen. H.M.
Ershad became the president of Bangladesh. He collected members for his student
factions mostly from the prisons and avoided the brilliant students very soon those
elements under the banner of Natun Bangla Chhatra Samaj started their evil
activities and intelligent Ershad soon brought an end to it

and he try to be the ever life president of Bangladesh. He was also an autocratic
leader and he knows that the student will be the most powerful threat for him. He
thinking that if he banned the student poitics, the all threat is finished and he
announced that the student politics will be stop. But they are strongly refused this.
The students depose him. They again show that they are in the way of real
democracy.

Situations of 1991 to 2010: I divided this time in five parts, these parts are:

1991 to 1996

1996 to 2001

2001 to 2006

2006 to 2008

2008 to 2010

In 1991 to 1996 the country has a democratic government which government is

leading by Begum Khaleda Zia who is the chairperson of BNP. The BNP govt.
started there ruling very well. This time BNP thought that if they strongly covered
in the student politics they will be in the power at all times. They polluting the
student politics give them the opportunity for his student organizations to take
some opportunity and they are became corrupted student leader. They forgot the
main duty of student leader.

In 1996 to 2001 the government is leading by Sheikh Hasina who is the president
of Awami League and AL also think that if the student politics is the under control
of them, they will be in power in long time. That’s why they give much power at
the hand of Chhatra League and the BSL used their power in various ways like
extortion, killing and raping. In 2000 one of the BSL leader, celebrate the century
of raping at JU. There are a lot of examples of that time. They also started business
of student admissions. They admitted the student who was in the favor of their
politics. As a result they created a big gap between brilliant student and student
politics. The student politics will lose the

leadership of notorious student. Various times they opposite student political

organizations. They killed many notorious student leaders of BNCD, SHIBIR and
JSD.

In 2001 to 2006 the govt. is leading by BNP and they just continued the past
government activities. The Chhatra Dal working two steps ahead in BSL. They
also gave the spaces who were not students, who were in terrorist. They never help
anyone who has no identity of Chhatra Dal. But at this time another organization
called SHIBIR doing opposite type of work in compare of Chhatra Dal. They are
working for the poor student. They founded the expenses of poor student. They
called the student in the way of peace and dignity. That’s the reason they became
most popular student political organization. SHIBIR is the largest student
organizations in the south-east Asia.

In 2006 to 2008 the caretaker government was in the power. That time was the
most historical time in the history of Bangladesh. As we all know the clashes
between the army member and student of DU. There the student leaders again
prove that they were in with the democracy.

In 2008 to present the ruling govt. was Awami League. Chhatra league became
more dangerous than the past. They are innovate in extortion, drop the tender,
clashes between each other. As we all see that the clashes between two groups the
innocent and the brilliant student named abu bakkar is killed in DU. They also saw
that at JU and Jagonnath University the clashes between the two groups of BCL
killed many students. In the newspaper we all see that the newses of the BSL, they
are doing the rape, eve teasing, extortion, clashes and so on.

Conclusion: Finally I just want to say that, the situation of student politics will
never change if the politician were not changed. If we change our thinking and we
give the chance the honest politician this situation will be change. If we stay in this
situations, we have to be liable in the young generations.
