Sathya (Truth) alone is responsible for the creation, sustenance and mergence of the whole
universe. It is all pervasive. It is the Shuddha Satwa (Pure Principle). It is like the pure golden
linga that Swami often takes out during Sivarathri. (Waves His hand and shows a golden linga for
all to see and there is applause.) All the forms here also are manifestations of that pure principle
itself. That came as Vishnu in the Krita Yuga, as Rama in the Treta and as Krishna in the
Dwapara. Seeta always had one pointed attention on Rama. She kept seeing the one in all
beings and had Rama in her thoughts always. For her, except Rama there was nothing else in the
world. That oneness is the Suvarna (gold).
Gold has 24 carats and then alone is it Poornam (complete). It was during the times of Morarji
Desai that 14 carat gold too came into existence and thus the gold value diluted. God has 16
aspects and then alone it is the Poorna Tatwam . Others do not have these 16 aspects. In
Dwapara yuga, none recognised Krishna's divinity. He was barely 7 when he did the leelas with
the gopikas. It was like playing with one's mother but people criticize him telling that he went after
women. He is the ideal. Krishna was the ideal man in Dwapara yuga while Seeta was the ideal
woman in Treta yuga.
God incarnates for the sake of devotees and to set man's mind right. In Dwapara, Kuchela was a
poor brahmin but was always immersed in the thoughts of the Lord. His children kept asking him
for food as they were hungry. But he always kept his faith and sang out, "Vaacham gocharundani.
" ( You are beyond all word and description. You protected Pandavas , satisfied Kuchela and even
Kubera.) Krishna and Rama are the only two avatars accompanied by women. No other avatar
has been so. But God is always One and has no second.
Dasharatha is one who has ten senses. He has three wives, Kausalya, Sumitra and Kaikeyi. The
children were Rama, Bharata, Lakshmana and Shatrughna with Rama's sister, Shanta.
Dasharatha did not get a child from Kausalya and so he married Sumitra. In those days one had
to take the permission of the other wife before remarrying. So when he asked Kausalya, she said,
"Go ahead by all means. It is necessary to have an heir to the throne." And so he wedded
Sumitra. Sumitra means a good friend and she was a good friend to all. When there were no
children, with the permission of both the wives, he married Kaikeyi. She was from Kashmir. She
put a condition,"
Since you are marrying me to get an heir to the throne, promise me that my child alone will be the
heir to the throne." He promised her. There were no children again. And so the Putrakaameshti
yagna was done. The pudding that emerged from that was distributed to the three wives.
Sumitra was heart broken. Kausalya's child will have right over the throne by the virtue of she
being the senior most queen and Kaikeyi's child too will have a right as she has elicited a
promise. What about mine??" Thus lamenting, she went to the terrace to dry her hair with smoke.
Those days there were no electric fans or hair dryers! As she was doing that, an eagle came and
took away her share of the pudding. It carried it to the hills where Anjana Devi was praying. She
partook it and gave birth to Hanuman! Sumitra then went to her co-sisters. They both then gave
her a part of their pudding. Thus the children were born. Lakshmana, born out of Kausalya's part
was always attracted to Rama and Shatrughna was attracted to Bharata.
Even when it was so, while passing through the forest once, Lakshmana began to scold Rama as
to why they alone had to suffer for no fault of theirs? That was because of that place being the
home of many demons. Once they moved out of that place, Rama lovingly explained that to him.
That is why one must always keep good company. The three of them settled in the beautiful
forest. The Sarayu river too was nearby. At that time Sita saw the golden deer. After having
renounced all the pleasures of Ayodhya, was she the one to run after the deer? No. It was all part
of a plan. it also shows that if you go after Kama (desire), you will move away from Rama (God).
That is why, less luggage, more comfort makes travel a pleasure. Lakshmana faithfully guarded
her till she taunted him and flung insults at him at not going to Rama's aid. He drew a line and
advising her not to cross it, left. ButRavana in the guise of a begging mendicant, kidnapped her.
In the war on Lanka, Lakshmana fainted. Hanuman went and instead of a single plant, got the
whole mountain! As he was fling over Ayodhya, Bharata saw him and wondered, "Who is this
flying monkey?" When Hanuman came down and related all details, even Sumitra and
Mrs.Lakshmana, Urmila were also present. The noble Sumitra said, "If Lakshmana has fallen,
then take my other son there. Rama will take care of everything I know. I am so happy that my
son is of service to Rama." That was their nobility!
Finally with the killing of Indrajit, the war almost came to a close. Vibheeshana told Rama that the
secret to kill Ravana was to shoot at his thumb. The fatal arrow brought a lot of joy to the
monkeys. They all began to jump up to have a glimpse of Sita. Rama told that they must all fetch
firewood. Sita had to undergo the trial by fire. The Lord of the fire himself came and testified to
Rama that Sita was pure. He said, "Oh Rama! You are all knowing. Do you not know about the
purity of Mother Sita?" Rama replied, "I never doubted her chastity but I wanted to prove to the
world what an ideal woman she is." At this all the monkeys applauded. (The whole Kulwant hall
also applauded!!) When Rama returned to Ayodhya, all the people sang joyously - Rama
Kodanda Rama. (At this point Swami sang the whole song and there was a very energetic
following for the bhajan. )
Rama, Krishna, Sai Rama, Sai Krishna - all are one and the same. Take any name. The
Ramayana is a very sacred story. What I narrated now is true - all other versions have a lot of
imagination too. Sing bhajans.
After the discourse, bhajans continued. Swami blessed prasadam for all. Then after a while, as
He sat, He took the lingam in His left hand. Then, He slowly put it into His mouth and sipped
water. After a short while, He turned to those seated near and said, "It has gone back in." Then
He want to the car and retired for the day.
The Whole Day was a Divine Celebration of the Glory of the Divine Lord - Sai Krishna
Om Sai Ram_ Glory of Lord Sarabeswara

Vijayam, the spiritually illustrious Tamil magazine.
* Do not run away with the notion that the so called asuras and
rakshasas belong to the bygone eras only who enacted puranic
roles! If you take the trouble of self introspection a little, surely
you will find atleast one asuric trait in you. Anger, rage,
treachery, lie, improper lust, corruption etc., belong to the
assortment of asuric nature only. All the men swayed by
numerous evils leading their lives are in a way, living as asuras
only is the implied meaning! All the moments when one's mind
raises bad thoughts even for a little while and whenever one
smokes or drinks alcohol he remains to be an asura only.

EYE LID WINK-MEASURE OF TIME!
(Sri Agasthya Vijayam-August 2000)
Batting of eyelid has been taken for granted by most of us as of
no consequence! Sidhdhas view this as a minute but
comprehensible divine measure of time for humans, unlike
micro or nano seconds revealed by man-made gadgets! Have
you ever paused to wonder at this divine wonder in the human
anatomy, of the eyelids blinking automatically without any
motor mechanism?

It is written that God created man in His Own Image. Regarding the nature of His
Divine Creation, Bhagavan Baba said, “The one God is present in all bodies. We
must love every human being. Consider yourself as God first, and then begin to
see the same God in every living being.”
Bhagavan Baba is exceedingly pleased when men and women assemble in His
Divine Presence with pure-hearted Love to worship Him and learn from Him.
Such was the Pleasure of our Lord, Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, when His
Youth, the Ideal Sai Youth, Messengers of Sai Love, gathered before Him during
the Sri Sathya Sai World Youth Conference with such intense love, with such
noble bearing, that His pleasure was evident in His movements and verbalized
effusively in His Divine Discourses. At one point He said, “You have all come
here with intense love and devotion. That makes Me very happy.”
It now behooves us to act in a manner that channels this Divine Impetus that He
has given ostensibly to the Youth in this conference, but actually to all of
humanity. We should recognize that Swami may express Himself in the context of
a conference for a particular group, but what He says and does is also for the
benefit of everyone everywhere. Such is the Nature of His Divine Love for His
Divine Creation, mankind.
REMEMBRANCE
Let us remember all that transpired on this great occasion, the Ideal Sai Youth
World Conference of 2007.
Let us remember the words that reverberated through our very being, the Eternal
Truth uttered by the Lord Himself, our Beloved Swami, so graciously, so lovingly,
so powerfully.
“Man today is deluded by his attachment to his body and senses. But you are not
the body, you are not the senses, you are not the intellect, you are you. You
should realize, 'I am I.' That universal ‘I’ principle is only one.
“Whenever evil thoughts enter your mind, remind yourself, ‘This is not good; this
is not mine; not mine,’ and drive away those evil thoughts. Tell yourself, ‘These
are all not my property; my property is good thoughts and good ideas only.’
“There is no need to search for God. Have faith that God is within you. When you
have faith in God, you develop love. From love emerges peace, peace gives rise
to truth. This truth is God.
“There is no place in this universe where God is not present. Hence, do not
entertain any doubt about the existence of God. Do not forget God. In fact, if you
forget yourself, it amounts to forgetting God. Hence, do not forget yourself. You
must constantly inquire into yourself, 'Am I forgetting God?'"
Regarding the Ideal Sai Youth Conference, let us remember everything and
savour every moment of this experience with our Beloved Swami: The Divine
Inspiration of His Words and Actions, our thoughts and feelings, the Conference
and the wise and eminent speakers, the satsang among the Youth from all over
the world working together as Sai brothers and sisters.
Let us remember our Lord, Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, and say to ourselves
with deep conviction and understanding, “I am I.”
Remembrance is good!
INQUIRY
Swami was pleased with the Ideal Sai Youth and their Conference. Just as a
mother caresses or scolds her child out of love to teach the child correct
behavior, Swami demonstrates pleasure or displeasure in our thoughts, words,
and deeds so that we might grow spiritually. In His Divine Omniscience,
Omnipotence, and Omnipresence, He always knows all of our thoughts, words,
and deeds. Have no doubt of this! Thus, we must learn from His Pleasure or
Displeasure just as the small child learns from his mother.
What was the source and substance of Swami’s Pleasure in the Youth
Conference?
The source and substance of His Pleasure was the dedicated preparation of the
Youth to be in the Divine Presence. It was the reverence for our Lord, Bhagavan
Baba, demonstrated by the youth as they assembled in His Presence for the
events of the day and how they applied themselves to the work of the
Conference, respectfully and attentively listening to and learning from the elders
who spoke. The Sai Youth were virtually embodiments of the “5 D’s”: Devotion,
Duty, Discipline, Dedication, Discrimination, and we might add Dignity. All Sai
Youth demonstrated dignity and poise before, during, and after the Conference
had concluded.
The source and substance of His Pleasure was the youth who planned,
constructed, and served as hosts in the Ideal Sai Youth Conference Exhibition.
They worked tirelessly. Through the night they worked. Their sacrifices,
extraordinary dedication, and the quality of their work epitomized the potential for
good works represented by this spiritual army of Ideal Sai Youth.
The source and substance of His Pleasure were the Sai devotees gathered in
Prasanthi Nilayam for Swami’s Darshan. They witnessed the performance of the
Ideal Sai Youth and they were uplifted by their exemplary behavior. Swami took
great pleasure as He Witnessed the inspiring experience the Ideal Sai Youth
brought to all who were gathered in Prasanthi Nilayam during the Ideal Sai Youth
Conference.
RESOLUTIONS
The Divine Discourses and the talks given by elders will be distributed to all
youth and all Sai Centers. First the Divine Discourses, the Inaugural and the
Valedictory, are being sent as attachments to this letter [note: they can be found
here, 26-28 July 2007]. These will serve as the focus of study circles for all youth
groups and also for all Sai Centers. The youth should conduct their own study
circles and subsequently participate in the study circles of the Sai Centers. As
soon as they are transcribed, the talks given by elders at the Ideal Sai Youth
Conference will be circulated to all Sai Youth and all Sai Centers.
RESOLUTION I
Henceforth, Sai Youth will be defined as Sai devotees between the ages of 18 to
35. The current 9 Zonal Youth Representatives, if willing, will continue in their
current positions until the first meeting of the Sai Youth Council in November
2007, at which time the term of their office and the methodology for selection of
zonal youth representatives in the future will be given. The 9 Zonal Youth
Representatives and the International Youth Coordinator will comprise the Youth
Council, which will function as a committee of the Sri Sathya Sai World
Foundation.
The purposes of this body will be to advise the Sri Sathya Sai World Foundation
on the ways and means to accomplish the following:
• The International Youth Council and Youth Coordinator are appointed and
convened as a committee of the Sri Sathya Sai World Foundation.
• Youth Representatives will meet with the Sri Sathya Sai World Foundation
at least once a year, at Birthday time, and a meeting will be convened at
Guru Poornima as well for those who can attend. Youth Representatives
will communicate with their respective Zone Chairs, keeping them
informed of all matters that affect activities of the Organizations within their
Zone.
RESOLUTION II
Youth Zonal Representatives and other Sai Youth speakers designated by the
Youth Council with the concurrence of the Zone Chairs and the Prasanthi Council
will give talks at scheduled center, national, and international meetings.
Their talks will include but not be limited to some or all of the following:
RESOLUTION III
However, the Sai Youth may also conduct separate study circles in which they
focus on Swami’s Divine Discourses in the context of the Ideal Sai Youth World
Conference.
RESOLUTION IV
The Pre-WYC 9-Point Sadhana Program, embarked upon by the Youth pleased
Swami. Actually, the components of the program are what all of us, not only
youth, should have been doing all of this time. It consists of spiritual practices
that are right and good if performed with Love for God. Therefore, the Sadhana
Program is adopted and recommended as good practices for all devotees in
perpetuity, keeping in mind the word of caution given by Swami not to regard
these “Practices” as an end unto themselves, and to recognize that it is our faith
and our purity that infuse these practices with spiritual potency.
CONCLUSION
The International Sri Sathya Sai Organizations will abide by the resolutions
hereby adopted by the Sri Sathya Sai World Foundation.
The International Sri Sathya Sai Organizations will incorporate in future events
the fundamental lessons derived from this inspiring conference.
The Administration of the SSO at all levels will listen seriously and sensitively to
the opinions of their constituency striving to address their needs and questions
as much as possible during the planning stages of a conference, and at all times
thereafter. Let us never be dogmatic and condescending. Let us, all of us, seek
to understand and be confident that when we sincerely make this effort we will be
understood. Swami says, “Communication is first understanding and then
adjustment.” All of us must keep this in mind and remember who we are and why
we are here. We are here to love one another and to expand that love to our
brethren everywhere. All are here for no other reason.
We will review the results of these conferences. Then, we will apply Swami’s
Instructions and the lessons learned in the conferences toward the progress of
the International Sri Sathya Sai Organizations and, most importantly, toward the
spiritual transformation of each and everyone of us and the world in which we
live.
