Do Religious Parents Raise Religious Children?-Outline

I. Introduction

A. Thesis: Why parents should raise their children in a religious environment

1. Make better decisions

2. Strengthen family bonds

3. Strengthen Self Control

II. Literary Review

A. Raising children in religious households allows them to make better decisions

1. Being exposed to certain beliefs helps impact life choices.

2. Raising children with morality through religion allows them to better

handle different situations that they face.

3. Teaching children at a young age removes the difficulty of learning at an

older age.

B. Raising children in religious households helps to strengthen family bonds

1. Children are more likely to attend gatherings with their extended family

and enjoy it.

2. Children’s morals are molded by their parents, so having a strong

relationship with ones children, develops their morality.

3. It is important for parents to be watchful of the things their children are

exposed to.
C. Raising children in religious households helps to develop the self control of the

child.

1. Religion teaches people to not act based on emotions but rather on what

that specific religion tells them.

2. Holding a firm belief (in Abrahamic Religions) of heaven and hell, helps

people stay away from what that religion prohibits.

3. Children who are receiving of them term, delayed satisfaction, are more

successful and more controlling of their emotions.

III. Islamic Perspective

A. Islam emphasizes the importance of self-improvement and morality

1. Peoples faith are not complete until they are the best they can be in their

moral behavior.

B. Islam highlights the importance of respecting the privacy of others

1. It is important to carry our moral behavior when in public or visiting

someone's home.

C. Islam adresses how people should speak to and deal with one another.

1. Muslims have a responsibility to display to people what Islam is throught

their actions and character

D. Islams stresses how a Muslim should treat their family

1. Being kind to one's parents is extremely emphasized since it is mentioned

in the same verse, right after Allah (SWT) tells the people to worship Him.

IV. Conclusion
A. Research found that religious upbringing does affect the morality of children

positively.

1. Religious upbringing helps to develop the decision making for children to

help them with life choices.

2. Religious upbringing strengthens the family bond, which is essential for a

positive effect on the morality of children.

3. Religious upbringing helps to teach children self-control.

B. Islam emphasizes the importance of morality.

1. There are ahadith and Quranic verses that align with the view that

religious upbringing affects the morality of children positively
