Me, in Egypt (yes it is real)(yes the aliens built the pyramids ;)
My name is Zakariah Shannon and I was born in Willis, Texas, which is just outside of Houston and just next to a town called Cut-and-Shoot. As you can tell, it was the best place to be raised, or recruited to a secret KKK group. I moved to New Braunfels 3 years ago, and went to both middle schools( NBMS is way better). For fun I like to read, or stare out my window and wait for the aliens to take me away. I also, in my free time, practice my spelling for UIL events. I personally don’t take part in many clubs or groups besides the UIL spelling thing. Every once in a while I’ll try another event like number sense or something, but all I do is embarrass myself. If there was any activity I could be a part of it would be a club where I sit alone in a room and watch old movies, while free popcorn is provided to me through a feeding slot. If you couldn’t tell, I’d be the only one in this club. As far as goals go, I’m just looking to maintain my 4.0 and maybe increase my class rank while I’m at it. I also feel like it would be cool if I didn’t become a drug addict or something by the end of the school year :). My main goals for the future are to figure out what I want to be and where I want to go to college, or if I want to go to college. I do have one overarching goal in life, and that would be to meet aliens at least once. As a teacher, I think the best thing you could do is be consistent and maybe help me get into area 51. My goals could change throughout the year, and that’s why it is best that you are consistent, I guess. In my opinion, history is important to study for many reasons, for prevention, for culture, and for enlightenment. The first is pretty straightforward, we just need to know how things went wrong so we don’t let them happen again. As for culture, it’s just important for us to know how we came about, and what our ancestors went through to get to the point we are now. The more we learn about our culture, the better we are able to sustain it and keep it from being lost in time. Lastly, maybe learning about something that happened in the past could change your mindset or beliefs about a certain topic, and maybe even help you with decision making in your daily life. I guess the main way history has impacted my life is by letting my life ,entirely as it is, be possible. If it weren’t for the inventor of written language, I wouldn’t have books to pretend to read while in public so no one will talk to me. If it weren’t for Europeans colonizing America, I would be living somewhere in the U.K. Or something and would have never met any of the people I consider my acquaintances. Finally, if it weren’t for the creation of the universe in general, I wouldn’t exist. That is how history has affected my life. Umm, I guess this was about me, and what I am like. I apologize if any of it seems in poor taste ;) Oh, and yes “I have been to Egypt, and that picture isn’t of me at the ninth grade center for a biology project”. I am excited for your class this year.
