Behavior Mentor Support

Context
● Benson Middle School is a Title 1, Restart School with
approximately 63 percent free and reduced lunch
● BMS is a 5th - 8th grade school that serves approximately 518
students
● Over 60 percent of the core educators are currently in the
Beginning Teacher Program.
● Benson Middle is in the first year of Marzano Academy
The Problem
Benson Middle School 7th Grade Science is a designated area of behavioral concerns
due to its high level of behavioral contact.

The Problem
The behavioral mentor support (BMS) is my Problem of Practice which is aimed at preventing
inappropriate behavior through the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) through
teaching, modeling and reinforcing appropriate behaviors. This framework is aimed to prevent
inappropriate behavior through teaching and reinforcing appropriate behaviors in 7th Grade Science.

Desired Impact
