Course Title: Socio-Cultural Anthropology Prerequisite: Society and Culture w/
Family Planning

A. Course Description:
This course is intended to afford BSE students of the contents and skills needed in teaching the
origin of man, the man as its self and with its group, social status, and culture as it evolves throughout the
generations. It would equip students to have a critical understanding and analysis of sociology and
anthropology.

B. Objectives:
At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
1. Learn important concepts of Cultural Anthropology (holistic approach, fieldwork, ethnicity,
gender, class, race, transnationalism and globalism, kinship, social structure); and
2. Familiarize themselves to the richness and variety of human life in the past and
contemporary worlds
C. General Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the course, the students should be able to;
I. Cognitive
1. Know the perspective of sociology and anthropology, with its scientific approach
and how to use these in analyzing the society;
2. Differentiate sociology and anthropology from each other; and
3. Enumerate the distinct characteristics of society with the effect of the present
culture
II. Affective
1. Value the role of man as a self and to its group;
2. Show respect to every person and other cultures of the world; and
3. Show appreciation of studying Socio-Cultural Anthropology
III. Psychomotor
1. Design lessons integrating contents learned in Socio-Cultural Anthropology; and
2. Present different activities that will enhance the teaching skills of BSEd major in
Social Studies students

Prelims Midterms Finals

PG=CS (60%) + PE (40%) MG = CS (60%) + PE (40%) TFG = CS (60%) + PE (40%)

CS = Class Standing CS = Class Standing where:
PE = Periodic Examination PE = Periodic Examination TFG = Tentative Final Grade
FG = Final Grade
Note: Class Standing for each period shall include 10% attendance.
H. Course Policies
Aside from academic deficiency, other grounds for a failing grade are:
a. Cheating during quiz/exam;
b. Grave misconduct other than cheating as defined in the Student Manual;
c. Exceeding 20% Allowable absences; and
d. Other rules and regulations in the UCU Student Manual and College Orientation
