Abstract

The CAD/CAM software available in the market are general purpose software. These
software are not developed for particular user or a particular task. The process of
modelling of the software for particular application to suit the specific requirement of
the customer is called as customization of software. Various industries use CATIAV5
to perform the- task of solid modelling, assembly modelling and drafting of the
various engineering products. Due to the wide variety of applications, couplings of
various types are used frequently by many industries. The aim of this work is to
customize CATIAV5 CAD/CAM software, to provide facilities that generate three
dimensional part model of Flange’s coupling, and its assembly model using
knowledge fusion programming.
1. Introuction

In the present era, CAD tool automation is necessary to satisfy the customer
requirements. It is very difficult to match the current industrial standards to achieve a
product development in shortest time. For achieving the desire goal as per
requirement specification, automation in CAD tool will provide a better solution. It
designs a web-based system which would take all the order & design inputs and push
the same to CAD database. CAD application that will read the inputs from
configurator (I Form) and generates complete Models, Assemblies and Drawings on
the fly by driving key parameters from configurator solution. Based on 3D
generation and manual validation of parts & assemblies, generation of drawings i.e.
EBOM and MBOM.
2. Literature Study

[1] Chi-Hsin Wang and Chen-Yang (2017), this paper gives the knowledge base data
management for the CAD tool by creating the revision. It shows the design and
planning of workflow process of Automation tool. It shows how the efficiency of
product will increase.

[2] Xinglong Liao and Yanjun Zuo, This paper presents the interference detection in
solid works for an assembly. Which gives the methodology reference for my project.

[3] Katia Lupinetti and Franca Giannini (2018), In this work, the retrieval of
assembly of data will be easy to get for an interference detection.

[4] Rahul Kumbhar and Narendra Dhanrale (2014), This paper includes the
customization of Catia V5 by using macros (Program code written in certain
programming language) for creating different types of holes on disc wheel. i.e. how
the three-dimensional solid modelling software
(like Catia V5) can be used to automate the repetitive tasks. The input data from user
is used to create holes on disc surface in part modelling environment of Catia V5.

[5] POPA and PARPALA (2012), have investigated This paper contains a
comparative study between main CAD-CAE software from the assembly /
disassembly perspective. The results of the study will be used in order to propose a
simulation platform that will contain the main function and facilities needed for
Assembly/Disassembly studies and analysis

[6] Mei Zhongyi and Zhu Sanshan (2011), this paper gives the knowledge base data
management for the CAD tool by creating the revision. It shows the design and
planning of workflow process of Automation tool. It shows how the efficiency of
product will increase.
3. Problem Statement and Objective
1. Problem Statement

Companies have to meet the needs of customer orders as fast as they can. As
today’s Demand has become more customized, dependency on Engineering
and innovation has increased. This leads to a longer lead time in submitting
the quotes. This results a lower lead conversion ratio.

2. Objective

 Ease of use, allowing low skilled manpower to handle design load

 Increases the productivity
 Minimize errors
 Link CAD to other applications, such as MS-Visual Studio using the latest
technologies
 To find generalized algorithm for Bearing Assembly
 Design the master model of bearing Assembly
 Make it parametric
 User interface for configurator
 User input as per bearing type, size and all other accessories.
 Assembly generation tasks from parametric relation become efficient.
 Eliminated manual errors
 Create bills-of-materials and routing based on configurator choices
