 Its structural integrity – ability of an item—either a structural component or a structure


consisting of many components—to hold together under a load, including its own weight,
without breaking or deforming excessively
 It’s aesthetically pleasing – Aesthetically pleasing designs are bringing up positive attitude in the
users
GUIDELINES IN UNDERSTANDING WORK OF ART

Type of Artwork

 Two Dimensional – created on a flat, two-dimensional surface. (painting, prints, mosaic,


drawing, & etc.)
 Three Dimensional – It occupies space, possessing thickness or depths as well as length and
breadth. It also has mass, density and volume. (sculptures, architecture, ceramics & etc...)

1. Determine the artist’s purpose


- The artist has a particular reason for creating his piece. Think about what may have
motivated the artist to choose his subject matter or style.
2. Learn about its historical context
- need to spend some time learning about the history of the work of art. Many works of
art are created in direct response to societal changes political events, variety of other
external causes.
3. Use your senses
- There’s a lot to be garnered from just looking at the colors, of a painting, spend time in
soaking in a work of art. It may find you understand it more intuitively than you might
have thought.
4. Consider Style
- One of the most important elements to consider from a historical standpoint as artist. it
also can be part of an artistic movement. Different styles will cause different reactions in
a viewer.
5. Figure out the emotional impact
- The most important elements in understanding art is to understand how it makes you
feel. whether a work makes you angry, sad, or feel nothing at all.

comprehensive learning system, not only focuses on mere learning but also on implementing
what is learnt.

with stories to tell

4. Consider style – You can tell it was designed based on the three primary criteria of good
architecture - durability, convenience and beauty
5. Figure out the emotional impact - Education with a holistic perspective is concerned with the
development of every person's intellectual, emotional, social, physical, artistic, creative and
spiritual potentials. It seeks to engage students in the teaching/learning process and encourages
personal and collective responsibility.
