Describe an open-air or street market which you

enjoyed visiting.

You should say:

• where the market was

• what the market sells
• how big the market was

and explain why you enjoyed visiting this market.

When I was in Taiwan I visited a market in the capital Taipei,

I can't quite remember, but I think it was called She Lin market.

There are lots of the night markets in Taipei and this one was really nice

It was hidden away just off the main drag and

you pass through some restaurants as you come into the market and

then it's really long and it stretches a good distance.

It’s full of different kinds of stalls.

On the one hand, it had kind of clothes, jewellery and souvenir stalls.

There were lots of bric-a-brac stalls.

I actually remember one that had lots of strange odds and ends,

really unusual things that they seemed to have just taken out of their

house and put on the stall, you know old dirty cups and bent copper

spoons and it was just very strange.

Clearly worthless items or maybe not maybe they were priceless I

don't know.

Then there were the food stands, they had a plethora of local

delicacies; lots of deep-fried stuff, clearly not very nutritious, but very

tasty

and I guess because it was a tourist area it was a really bustling street,

a hive of activity and I liked it because of the variety of colours, the

noises, the exotic aromas.

I guess the downside, it was a bit cramped so you sometimes literally

had to elbow your way through, to move forward, but it was great, it

had a real buzz, a nice atmosphere and I enjoyed it very much.
