Exercise 1: Starting ArtiosCAD

1. Double click the ArtiosCAD icon on the desktop or choose Start >

2. After the ArtiosCAD splash screen closes, select File > New Design.

Existing parameter sets can be

modified and new parameter sets

This window contains a listing of the available parameter sets and

The Board list is a group of settings that tell ArtiosCAD various

things about the material used to manufacture the design (such as, the
thickness of the board, its inside loss, outside gain, scant, and allow-
ance.)

4. You can accept the default selections or select something else from
the lists, then click OK
5. The Parameter Set and Board are saved with the file. Next time the

Exercise 2: Design Window Elements

1. Menus contain all commands available in the current module. Avail-

ability of commands depends on the options purchased and the active
toolbar.

2. The View Bar contains buttons that give access to commonly used
features. For example, open file, save, rebuild design, convert to
manufacturing or 3D, layers, grain/corrugation direction, side of
design, and units.

3. The Line Type Selection pop-down list displays the line type that
will be used for next line drawn. It can also be used to change the type
of the selected line(s).

4. The Pointage drop down list allows you to change the width of the
burn for the laser. This does not change the “thickness” of the line.

5. The Drawing Area is where the work is done. It is where designs are
drawn, dimensioned, annotated and edited. Adjustments can be made

to how the drawing is viewed in the workspace by making changes in

the View Mode dialog box found in the View menu.

6. The Status Bar is where entry fields and information messages

appear. Data is entered into the fields on the status bar. The data entry
fields will appear only for certain tools that need them, such as the line
tool.
