Special Features of M701F5
Banking on the successful commercial operating experience of the
M701F4, Mitsubishi upgraded M701F5 which can achieve over 61%
of Combined Cycle Plant efficiency.

M701F5 allows operation at a “Turbine Inlet Temperature” of

1,500 °C.

M701F5 comprises of “F4” compressor, “GAC” air cooled

combustor and “J” turbine.

F4 Compressor has been Verified in “F4” engine at Sendai 4 and

Bandirma.

GAC Combustor is running successfully in GAC engine.

State of Art “J” turbine verified at Mitsubishi’s T Point in 2011

M701F5 has Increased GT Power Output. 10 /22

Best gas-fired plant in 2010

In December 2010 M701F4 GTCC plant recognized the

Project of the Year by Power Engineering magazine.
“Best Gas-fired Projects Project of the Year. Sendai thermal power station replacement projects,
Shichigahama Town, Japan”
Tohoku-Electric Power Co. wins the Project of the Year for best gas fired project with its 446 MW Sendai
No.4 combined-cycle plant. This plant, located in Shichigahama Town, Japan, replaced three existing 175 MW
coal fired plants that started commercial operation more than 50 years ago. The new and cleaner single
shaft combined cycle plant burns natural gas with 60 percent CO2 emissions reduction and considerable
NOx emissions reductions.
The new plant operating mode is based on a Daily Start and Stop (DSS) duty cycle to compensate the
load variability in the area.
The plant is one of the first applications of the Mitsubishi M701F4, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ (MHI’s)
most recent 50Hz class gas turbine upgrade. This machine incorporates changes to six compressor stages
to increase air flow by 6 percent..”
