Fault code: MID 185 - PPID 294 - FMI8

General information on the fault code:
MID185 G051 - Air production management ECU
PPID294 Trailer circuit air pressure
FMI-8 Abnormal frequency
Appliance(s) implicated:

Appliance(s) implicated:

G051 Air production management ECU

Condition(s) and reason(s) for saving of fault code:

Trailer non-return valve leak.

Trailer circuit external air supply.
The G051 equipment is defective.

Perceptible symptoms or "customer complaint" due to fault:

D107 Air management fault warning light

The warning light D049 comes on (D048: "STOP" warning light ; D049: "SERVICE" warning
light).

The following message is displayed:

WORKSHOP STOP

Recording of the fault code by the ECU G051.

Priority to air tank filling is not observed.
If the vehicle is equipped with the arctic cold option, this is no longer assured.

Troubleshooting and repair method:

In order not to damage the equipment, the repair steps should be carried out in the
correct order.

IN NO CIRCUMSTANCE SHOULD THE "AIR PRODUCT MANAGEMENT" SYSTEM BE

DISASSEMBLED.

Only the cartridge and the exhaust pipe can be subjected to maintenance.

General checks:

Check the general state of the function:

 The wiring harnesses and the fluids routing pipes are sound.
 The connectors are neither oxidized nor physically damaged.
 The connecting arrangement is not damaged.
 The connectors are properly plugged into their equipment.

Diagnostics using the RENAULT TRUCKS test tool:

Using the RENAULT TRUCKS test tool, perform the operation 5600-08-03-02.

Measurements and diagnostics on the module G051 :

Illustration of the module G051 Location

Key: in the illustration above, the unit G051 is identified by item "A".

The location (see illustration above) is given as an indication only, for more precision, refer to
the appropriate vehicle repair manual.

Preparation for tests and measurements:

Turn the ignition key to the "stop" position. Turn the master switch to the "OFF" position. Turn
the master switch to the "ON" position. Erase the fault code then restart the engine. Check
whether the code is again recorded. If so, turn the ignition key to the "stop" position, turn the
master switch back to the "OFF" position and wit for 30 seconds before undertaking any
troubleshooting.

Tests and measurements:

Disconnect the trailer.
Apply the parking brake.

Turn the ignition key to position "St" (Off).

Bleed all the air circuits.

Bleed all the air tanks.

The trailer and parking brake circuits are not supplied with air.

Start the engine.

Raise the pressure of the compressed air circuit to 12 bars using the vehicle compressor.
Let the ECU G051 reach the governing pressure point.
Check that the pressure in the trailer compressed air circuit changes to 8 < P < 8.5 bars.
Apply the parking brake.
Wait for 15 second(s).
Release the parking brake.
Reset the ECU: ignition key "ON/OFF".
If the fault is still present, replace the G051 equipment.
