Attending a STEM magnet school and following the Mechanical Engineering track, our four years
culminates in a Senior Capstone project. We spend the entire year creating a product that has real-world
applications, from brainstorming and design to construction. The final project is due April 23, 2020 and is
still in the works. My partner is focusing on the stamper subassembly and collection bin and I am
focusing on the framework, hopper, and advancement subassembly.

Our project is a dual advancement-stamping machine that takes stacked boxes in a hopper and
moves them forward to the stamping subassembly and momentarily pauses motion, where information
can be imprinted. The boxes are then deposited into a detachable collection bin. This product is virtually
autonomous and, due to a mechanism designed to inherently pause motion during its motion, is more
energy-efficient than conventional conveyor belt solutions.

We hope to see this product implemented in the processing chain of shipping, manufacturing, and
mining companies.

Attached are scans of pages of my design notebook that outlines my ideas and designs over the
entire process. I have also included additional images of the proof-of-concept assemblies and CAD
mechanism layouts for my subassemblies.

Note: the final project will be constructed of 3-D printed linkages, an aluminum frame, motorized power
source, and plexiglass safety guards that are currently being constructed.

created to prove that all calculations for the linkage were
correct and that such a design is a practical option. Thus, only
one side is attached; the final will have both sides.
Sketch of Final Project; I apologize for the drawing, I am a much better designer than I am an artist.
