RESEARCH QUESTIONS
This study is designed to seek answers for the following questions:
3) According to the student’s opinion, what are the common errors committed
by students in solving accounting problems? Is there any gender difference
in this respect?
4) According to the opinion of students, what are the causes for committing
errors in solving accounting problem? Does gender have any influence in
it?
To find out whether students are aware of committing errors while solving
accounting problems.
To analyze the opinion of students regarding the common errors committed and
their causes while solving accounting problems.
The present study was conducted on 100 Higher Secondary Commerce stream
students from St. Aloysius H.S.S. Kollam. The data required for the present study was
collected using a questionnaire developed by the investigator and teacher made
achievement test. Normative survey was therefore adopted as the method for the present
study.
ANALYSIS OF DATA
Majority of the respondents are interested towards accounting problem solving but
at the same time they agree that they make errors while doing accounting
problems.
The common error committed by students while solving accounting problem is in
the area of solving adjustments and the causes are due to the lack of satisfaction of
guidance provided at school by teachers and as they do not work out accounting
problems at home.
