Sub:- Procurement of Transport vehicle for transportation of T&P and MAS

Material etc.

This Division has, Flood Forecasting sites in remote areas of District –

Kinnaur, two Telemetry sites one at Sumdo in Distt.- Lahaul Spiti (H.P.) and
one at Chumar in Leh -district of J&K state. Besides these sites Snow
Hydrology Observatories are also located in remote areas of district –Kullu &
Shimla (H.P.) and District- Uttarkashi and Chamoli of Uttarakhand state.
These sites are located in remote and snow bound areas, as per earlier
experience the shifting of T&P, MAS material (floats, gauges, Charcoal etc)
become difficult. The hiring of vehicle takes very much time. As roads to
these sites generally remain close and also rough condition of road become
hurdle in shifting of material as transporters if agrees to go these remote
locality demands very high rates.
Keeping in view the remote location of sites and deteriorating condition of
roads, it is very much essential the availability of one no transport vehicle.
Which will be helpful and economical during emergency also.

Necessary provision for procurement of one No Transport Vehicle amounting

to Rs. 4.50 lakh has been kept in SFC Memo for Flood Forecasting Net work
(Plan) – M&E.
