Manual  Before excavation begins, the construction Site In-charge

vicinity of the worksite, proximity of
structures and their conditions, soil,
surface water and groundwater, chemical
contamination of soil or water, overhead
and underground utilities, weather etc.
 Before start of trial trench excavation, the
site survey to be done to know in advance
the underground utilities and suitably the
route to be decided.
 Hard barricading to be provided around the Site In-charge MIEL/CIVIL/001/01
excavated part if the depth of excavation is
more than 1 m. The hard barricading shall
be 1.5 m distance from the edge of
excavated pit/trench.
 Walkways shall be provided where
employees or equipment are required or
permitted to cross over excavations.
 Pathways shall not be slippery (due to
accumulation of mud, sand or gravel). This
should be avoided.
 Excavated material should be stacked at a
safe distance (min 1.5 m away from the
edge)
