FOREWORD

Praise for the presence of Allah SWT, for His mercy so that we can complete the
preparation of a paper entitled "Literature and Mimetics". Writing this paper is one of the tasks
given in the Introduction to Literature course.

In writing this paper we know there are still many shortcomings in both technical
writing and material, given the capabilities we have. For this reason, I hope for criticism and
suggestions from all parties for the improvement of the making of this paper.

In writing this paper we expresses ours deepest gratitude to those who helped in
completing this paper, especially to my Lecturers who have given me assignments and
instructions, so that we can complete this task.

ABSTRACS
Literature is represents falsehood, said Rahdar, but it is used as a unique procedure to reveal the truth.
The imagination world ia as a contact or touch between idea and language that create literary works
in certain case and it becomes the autonomous area which are not
necessary to be related to the reality. Although it is imaginative, it must not be irrational because the
imaginative thing is also possible to happen in real life. As a work of imagination, literary work is not
able to place itself as a central of legal social problems. It is caused by the fact that literary work is
an imaginative work which contraries to reality so the harmony between mimesis and author's
creativity to create the new thing has great role in creating the quallified literature.
CHAPTER 1
PRELIMINARY
1.1 BACKGROUND
Literary work is literature, writing, which when compared to writings that have various aesthetic
characteristics, such as authenticity, artistry, beauty in the content and expression, drama, epic, and
lyrics. (Large Indonesian Dictionary: 786). There are several literary works, comparative literature,
regional literature, world literature, erotic literature, entertainment literature, Indonesian literature,
classical Indonesian literature, written literature and other literature. The literary work itself contains
experiences commonly experienced by the author himself.
You've probably heard the expression 'art imitates life' at some point. In fact, mimesis is the process
by which art reflects and reinterprets the world around it. One form, visual mimesis, is difficult to fit
in a literary context, since it involves artistic portrayals of real-life images, such as Egyptian columns
carved in the shapes of palm trees, or landscape paintings. This type of mimesis is found throughout
visual art.
When director Peter Jackson decided to film The Lord of the Rings in New Zealand, fictional
locations like the city of Edoras became visually mimetic of real-life locales.
