Installation of Balluff sensor

Mill side

If roller is resting on table, adjust sensor in that way, that analog signal is in
range of approx. 8 mA as the full span of sensor can not be utilised, and
recalibration in case of wear should be possible.

Figure for putting plate to calibrate lower

position of roller position

Put 16 mm steel plate for calibration of lower roller position at bigger

diameter of roller towards damring. At this position the value of analog
signal from Balluff sensor should be on lower side.
The position of plate must not be changed while calibrating the upper
position [ approx. 70 mm ]
Check if roller is not touching table at smaller diameter. If so, increase plate
thickness.

Procedure for roller position adjustment

Prepare steel plates of 16 mm thickness with dimension

1 400mm x 400 mm. Check thickness and note down
exact value.

2 Put 16 mm steel plate between roller and grinding plate at

bigger diameter of roller

Lower roller on 16 mm steel plate and teach in the value you

3 have noted down in PLC ( provision to do so has to exist in
PLC )

4 Check if smaller diameter of roller will touch table

Adjust the mechanical stopper ( if exist ) while 16 mm plate

is under the roller.
5 After roller is raised turn spindle of stop buffer approximately
180° and lock the spindle.
Only for CS
and Coal Mills
Lower the roller on stopper and check gap between roller
and grinding plate with full working pressure. Readjust
6 buffer, if required ( means in case roller is still touching
table).

7 Raise roller to mechanical top position

Prepare steel plates of approximately 70 mm thickness

8 with dimension 400mm x 400 mm. Check thickness and
note down exact value.

Put 70 mm steel plate between roller and grinding plate at

9 same position of calibrating lower value.

Lower roller on 70 mm steel plate and teach in the value you

10 have noted down in PLC ( provision to do so has to exist in
PLC )

After that scaling is done, you have to adjust the limits for
11 „roller too low“ and „roller in top position“

12 Adjust the limit for „roller too low“ to 20mm

Raise the roller and check the value, you get when
mechanicly raised.
13 Substract 5 mm from that value and enter the result as limit
for „roller in top position“

Check adjustments by raising and lowering rollers several

14 times.
