Foreword

Product Description

DataView software is an application based on Microsoft Windows. It helps the user to acquire,
create, print and manage data on the CTS-49 ultrasonic thickness gauge.

DataView provides one-way data transmission from the ultrasonic thickness gauge to the
computer.

DataView is applicable to the CTS-49 and CTS-59 ultrasonic thickness gauges made by SIUI.

Installation

System Requirement

Here are the requirements of the computer for installing DataView:

z IBM PC or compatible computer, whose operation system is Windows 2000 or XP
z SVGA monitor with 1024*768 pixels or higher resolution
z Pentium, equivalent or more advanced processor
z ≥256MB RAM available
z ≥50MB free hard disk space
z USB port
z CD-ROM Drive

Software Installation

Put the installation CD in the CD drive.

Open the CD, find DataView_Setup.exe and double click to run it.
In the dialog box of Welcome to the DataView Setup Wizard, click Next to start installation.

In the dialog box of Select Destination Location, click Browse to select a different folder for
installation or click Next to install the software to the default folder.
In the dialog box of Select Start Menu Folder, click Browse to select a different Start Menu folder
or click Next to use the default folder.

In the dialog box of Ready to Install, it shows the installation information. Click Install to continue.
In the dialog box of Completing the DataView Setup Wizard, click Finish.
Device Driver Installation

Power on the device (CTS-49). When the device initialization is finished, connect the device and
the computer with a USB cable, and wait for the operation system to find the new device.

Select No, not this time, and then click Next to continue.
Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), and click Next to continue.

Select Include this location in the search and click Browse.

Select the folder Driver (where the driver is saved) in the CD Drive, and click OK to confirm.

And then click Next to continue.

Wait until the installation of the driver is finished.

Click Finish to complete the installation.

Check properties of Network Connections on the computer desktop and a new network card can
be found.

Check properties of the network card: select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties to
continue.
Set the IP address of the network card as 192.168.5.2, and the Subnet mask as 255.255.255.0.
Click OK to finish.

Start the Software

Double click the shortcut icon DataView on the desktop to start the software.

Software Interface Elements

Menu: File, Device, Local, Help

Button: Connect, Download, Download Parameter, New Dataset, New Parameter Set
Device Data Window and Device File Window
Local Data Window and Local File Window
Connect the Device

Click Connect button to connect the device.

Tip: When the device is connected successfully, two store locations (sd and loc) will be listed in
the device data window.
sd for SD card plugged to the device; and
loc for the local device.
If Device Not Connected is displayed in the device data window, it means the computer and the
device are not connected, or the connection fails.
Basic Operation

Create New Dataset

Click New Dataset button. Input the name in Dataset Name and click OK button.

In the local data window, the blank dataset Data_3D just created can be found.
Tip:
Datasets are for saving data files in the dataset format.

The data files of datasets have the extension .dat, and the data files of parameter sets have
the extension .par.

Create New Parameter Set

Click New Parameter Set button. Input the name in Parameter Set Name and click OK button.

In the local data window, the blank dataset Param1 just created can be found.
Tip:
Parameter sets are for saving data files in the parameter set format.

The data files of datasets have the extension .dat, and the data files of parameter sets have
the extension .par.

View Datasets in the Local Device

Click the loc store location of the device data window. Wait for a while, and the store location for
Parameter and Dataset will be displayed.

Parameter for the store location of parameter sets in the local device.
Dataset for the store location of data sets in the local device.

Click the dataset store location. Wait for a while, and all the data sets in the local device will be
displayed, as shown in the figure below. The current data sets in the local device are:
0003_DATA3D, 0002_DATA2D and 0001_DATA1D.
Click one of the datasets, such as 0002_DATA2D, and its data file will be shown on the right data
file window.
Tip:
The name of a data set consists of 2 parts. Take “0002_DATA2D” for example, "0002" is the
FileNum, and "DATA2D" is the FileName of the data set in the device.

The name of a data file consists of 4 parts. Take “0002_0005_0001.dat” for example, "0002" is the
Line number, "0005" is the Column number, "0001" is the Point number. and ". dat " is the
extension.

View Datasets in the SD Card

Click the sd store location in the device data window. Wait for a while, and the store location for
Dataset will be displayed if datasets are existing in the SD card.

Click the dataset store location. Wait for a while, and all the data sets in the SD card will be
displayed, as shown in the figure below. The current data sets in the device are: 0003_3d,
0002_2d and 0001_1d.

Click one of the datasets, such as 0001_1d, and its data file will be shown on the right data file
window.
View Parameter Sets in the Device

Tip:
The name of a parameter set consists of 2 parts. Take “0003_3.par” for example, "0003" is the
StoreNum, and "3" is the FileName of the parameter file in the device, and ". par" is the extension.

Download Dataset
Download Method No. 1: download a data set to the local computer

Select the dataset to be downloaded in the device data window, “0002_DATA2D” in the device for
example.
Click the menu Device ->Download Dataset. The DataView software will transfer the whole data
set “0002_DATA2D” in the device to the local computer.
Select “0002_DATA2D”.
Click the menu Device ->Download Dataset to start download.
Download Method No. 2: download selected data files

Select the data file(s) to be downloaded in the device file window.

Click New Dataset to create a new data set, “2d” for example, and then click it to confirm
selection.
Click the button Download to start download.
Download Parameter Set
Download Method No. 1: download a parameter set to the local computer

Select the parameter set to be downloaded in the device data window. Click the menu Device
->Download Parameter Set. The DataView software will transfer the whole parameter set in the
device to the local computer.
Select a parameter set from “Parameter” in the device.
Click the menu Device ->Download Parameter Set to start download.
Download Method No. 2: download selected parameter files

Select the parameter file(s) to be downloaded in the device file window.

Click New Parameter Set to create a new parameter set, “Param1” for example, and then click it
to confirm selection.
Click the button Download Parameter to start download.
Dataset Management

Open A Dataset

Double click a dataset in the local computer data window. As shown below, double click the
dataset 2d.
The dataset management window is displayed.

Review the Waveform

Click a measurement data in the data file list, “0001_0001” for example, and the corresponding
waveform will be displayed in the waveform panel.
Thickness Displayed in Color Grids View Mode

Click View Color Grid, and all the thickness will be displayed in color grid view mode.
Export Thickness Value

Click Export. Select the storage path in the dialog box, input the file name for export and export
type, and then click OK.

The data will be saved as type: Space Separated Values.

The data will be saved as type: Tab Separated Values.

The data will be saved as type: Comma Separated Values.

The data will be saved as an Excel file.

Print Reports

Click Print button to print the report.

Parameter Set Management

Open A Parameter Set

Double click a parameter set in the local computer data window. As shown below, Double click the
parameter set Param1.
The parameter set management window is displayed.

Review Instrument Setup Parameter

Click the button Instrument Parameter to review.

Appendix:

Dataset file name description

As shown above, this is a dataset with 2D format. There are six measured values. 0001_0001
position represents measured value in first line first column, and 0001_0002 represents measured
value in first line second column.
A dataset with 3D format is represented as follow. 0001_0001_0001 position represents measured
value in first line first column first point, and 0001_0001_0002 position represents measured value
in first line first column second point, and so on.
If all measured value in all measured position of 3D dataset is represented in color grid view mode,
and the view is shown as follow.
