I. RATIONALE

Organic agriculture is a production system that sustains the health of soils, ecosystems
and people. It relies on ecological processes, biodiversity and cycles adapted to local
conditions, rather than the use of inputs with adverse effects. Organic agriculture
combines tradition, innovation and science to benefit the shared environment and
promote fair relationships and a good quality of life for all involved fertilizer and
synthetic chemicals that causes infertility of soil and cause human illness.

Organic farming advocates the use of organic fertilizer as one of the methods to minimize
ground water pollution, restore soil fertility, reduce vulnerability of marginal farmers on
the high cost of chemical fertilizer, and promote the gradual adoption of organic-based
agriculture nationwide.

Farmers making a transition to sustainable or organic farming need information on soil

management, technique and innovation and non-chemical weed and pest management.

Hence, this training.
