INTRODUCING PROPHET MOHAMMAD

We are going to prepare present a small booklet to introduce the prophet to non- Muslims. We
wish to incorporate in this the following; if you wish to add other points then you are free to
suggest. Kindly suggest, in short, a few points on each topic mentioned below (please don’t refer
books; just give some short descriptive points.)

1)A brief life sketch of the Prophet.

2) What are the features that distinguish Muhammad among the world leaders, religious or
secular?

3) How he changed the society at his own time?

4) How his teachings can alleviate the problems of the present day world.

5) On what grounds, a man called Muhammad of 14 centuries back is taken as the

Messenger of Allah.

6) The last sermon of Prophet Muhammad.

2) The following features:

i) Historicity: He is the only leader whose life is well recorded; .every action of his, from daily
routine to his teachings in politics, is available in written form.

ii) All other leader of the world were such who had distinction in one or a few of fields of life ;
some one was expert in social affairs , some in military affairs and some in economics and so on .
 Muhammad is the only person in the history who had multi
directional faculties.

iii) His life is taken as a model meant to follow and to test one self of his own worthiness. But such
a model is not there in other religions even if they name some persons and persons and claims
that they take his such and such person as model. (That is why people of varied customs, from
naked Naga sadhus to persons taking vegetarian to non – vegetarian foods all claim to be good
Hindus)

iv) His teachings were all of Universal nature and for all times to come.

v) With due respect to Ram and Jesus We may humbly say that even if they are considered as
model for `their followers , they are not authenticated by their own scriptures , Ram is not even
mentioned in the holiest books Vedas where as Muhammad has been presented as model by the
Quran and the followers of Islam are commanded to follow and practice his instructions and
actions .

3) The message of the prophet turned rather revolutionized the society of his time, not only in
the Arabian Peninsula but all around it. In the words of H G Wells “Islam prevailed because
everywhere it found politically apathetic peoples, robbed, oppressed, bullied uneducated and
unorganized and it found selfish governments---’’ He had a very positive effect on the following
scores.

----------oneness of Allah; idolatry and superstitions removed, it gave courage to the downtrodden
people stand and raise their voice against the oppressor.

----------A new era of enlightens of Reasons began

----------Racial and tribal feeling removed and equality of all human beings established

----------Emancipation of women began; rights to divorce, rights of in heritage, rights to possess

property, rights of consent to marry etc. ---

--------------INTEREST on the money was forcefully removed from the society this, along with the
enforcement of ZAkAT gave much relief to the poor and down trodden of the society.

-Status of the slaves was uplifted, the prophet till on the death- bed warned his followers to take
care of the slaves and the women. There are several sayings (“hadiths “) in this regard to them
for the uplift of the slaves and the women ; however he could not abolish slavery altogether , as
the system of slavery is concerned to the two parties in WAR ; it could not be abolished
unilaterally-------it had to wait till the age , when the Inter national Laws were framed )

----------An array of instruction in regard to trades, changed the face of markets, rules of new
economics were set.

----------Social evils e.g. wine drinking gambling were curbed.

4) The following injunctions, if implemented in true spirit may revolutionise the society today.

a) Interest free banking and establishment of zakat system.---this will be helpful in removing
poverty.

b) The faith in life after death and the faith that one is answerable to Allah for all his actions
,small or big ----will eradicate corruption, tyranny and many social evils.

c) The strict actions taken against wine takers, rapists, slanderers against women and such
crimes

d) The strict injunction of the Prophet against national, tribal and racial feelings; this is a major
tool to promote brotherhood among nations.

e) Freedom of women from the subjugation of males. Women of today have a to bear the
burden of earning for the livelihood and raring the children as well ------------The broken
homes of will be saved if all family Laws are implemented ---------

f) Strict adherence to the injunction and examples of the Prophet how he treated his enemies
and followed the treaties-------- this may help change the international relations.
