I. OBJECTIVE:
At the end of the session, 80% of the students will be able to:
a. Define verb;
b. Appreciate the uses of verbs;
c. Compose sentences using verbs.

A. Preliminary Activities

 Greetings
Good morning class! Good morning teacher!

How are you today? We are good teacher.

That’s good!

 Prayer
Before we start our new lesson, (students stand for a prayer)
let us all stand for a prayer. Who
is our prayer leader for this day?

 Checking of Attendance
Be sure that you are in your (students go back to their proper
proper seats so I can check who seat)
is absent today.

B. Review of the past lesson


Yesterday, we have
discussed_________, right? Do
you have any questions about
our lesson yesterday? Is
everything clear?

C. Activity

Before we proceed to our next


lesson, let’s have a game first.
This game is called “charade.” I
will group you into two. The girls’
group and the boys’ group. In
your group, you have to choose
one representative to be the
actor. The actor will pick a word
from my box and act out that
word. The other members will
guess the word. Each group will
only be given 1 minute to guess
all ten words in the box. The
group who will get the highest
score in the shortest time will be
the winner. Are my instructions
clear? Yes teacher.

Now, all girls shall stay on the


left side and boys on the right (students group together)
side.

Choose who will be your actor


and we will start the game.

E. Abstraction

The words that you have


guessed earlier in our game are
called “verbs.” All of these words
are examples of verbs. So,
based on the examples can you
tell me what a verb is?
“ Verb is an action word”
Very good!

Verb- is a word that expresses


an action or a state of being

Example: The girls dance on the


stage.

Dance is a verb.

Is, are, was, were, are also


verbs. But they are called
Linking Verbs. They connect the
subject and the predicate in a
sentence.

Example: The girl is beautiful.

Linking verb is connects the


subject girl and the predicate
which is beautiful.

Can you use these verbs in a


sentence? “Yes teacher.”
“My friends climb the fence of our

In a ½ crosswise, identify what is helping verbs and give atleast 5


examples of sentences using helping verbs.
