YEAR 2019-2020

The purpose of this research is to understand the effect of the respondent’s tardiness.

At this stage in the research, the respondents tardiness will generally defined as a basis of

The respondents well being at Benigno S. Aquino National High School, Year 2019-
2020.

1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of;

1.1 Age
1.2 Gender

2. What are the reasons of the respondents tardiness?

3. How do the respondents tardiness affects their academic performances

4. How do the respondents cope up from tardiness?

Abstract

Respondents’ tardiness has remained a perpetual problem throughout the history of

learning. Although much literature has been expanded over issues of indiscipline within
the school system, very little has centered on tardiness mainly evolving around
absenteeism, house-hold problems or other related problems. This study therefore
attempts to extend research on respondent’s tardiness by defining the basic questions
regarding promptness in school and class attendance by initiating a study using 11th
graders at a public school in B.S.A.N.H.S (Concepcion, Tarlac). The result we’re quite
remarkable revealing a tremendous turnaround of the tardy respondents becoming
punctual after the introduction of a prompter. The study was limited by time constraints
and lack of independent validation. Nonetheless, the study was instructive and gave that
the dilemma regarding tardiness can be fairly lessened if not eradicated.
Introduction

Time is like a sword. If you did not cut it, it will cut you back. Basically,
human beings are the most difficult to manage. However, some respondents are
tardy to class on a regular basis, and respondents are probably displaying a sort of
defiance or impedance. Thus, respondents are proper to rationalize excuse, such
as, traffic jam, parents care or other responsibilities that prevent them being
punctual attending the class. However, when respondents come to class tardy, it
can confuse the flowing of a lecture or discussion, distract other respondents, and
disturb learning teaching process. Moreover, lateness can become frequent and
infect other students. However, teachers reported that the reality of classroom life
may be very different. All faculties are confronted with respondents who engage
in behaviors that are disruptive to the educational process. Respondents may be
late for class, leave early, talk inappropriately, or sleep during class. However, the
respondents attendance policy has been developed as a role of the school’s
commitment to provide a supportive learning environment which authorize all
students who have selected to study with the DepEd to fulfill their absolute
potential. DepEd(2009) reported that the attendance and punctuality policy clearly
states that “regular and punctual attendance is of paramount importance in
ensuring that all respondents have full access to the curriculum. Valuable learning
time is lost when respondents are absent or tardy”. Therefore, Schools expects
students to attend all learning and teaching sessions. Thus, respondents should
come on time for classes. Late arrival students are disruptive and inequitable to
other class members. Basically, there are a number of hidden reasons that
respondents arrive to class late, which causes the source of the problem.
Nonetheless, instructors are responsible to establish appropriate dealing strategies
to uproot such behavior. Santillano (2010) reported that psychological theorists
considered some “personality traits, including low self-esteem and anxiety” as
triggering factors of lateness. However, some theorists considered lateness as an
“inborn quality” since our being early or late is “partially biologically
determined”, which she also agreed, other experts also believed that some people
are “chronically tardy” for the reason that they consciously and unconsciously get
good things from it. Study by Pimentel and Quijada (2011) Cited in Bilocura
(2012) focused on the frequency of use by the respondent in Concepcion of
Facebook and a part of the study tackled about the effect of the famous social
networking site to Concepcion punctuality and academic performance. They
asked the respondent about their use of Facebook and its effects. A certain
question asked the respondents if late-night use of Facebook has an effect on their
punctuality.
Scope and Delimitation

The scope of this study is to find the causes and effects of the tardiness to the
Respondents academic performances. The study is delimited only for the senior
high school of Binigno S. Aquino National High School, this research only
studies the cause and effects of tardiness of the respondents and how they will
cope up. this study examines only the case of the senior high school of Benigno S.
Aquino National High School, through the instrument of a questionnaire
administered to those who were selected by the researcher as representative of
each group. It is possible that some of the recipients will not have understood
what response is required from them. Every attempt was made to prevent the
influence of view or response. Only one school was investigated in the case study.
Significance of the Study

For the teacher, this study will explain the reason's why the student
getting tardy and the possible effects of it to their academic
performances and what are the things you may do avoid it.
To the students, this study will open your mind on what will happen
if you are always getting tardy and the effects of it to your academic
performances and it will help you to avoid and cope up from tardiness.
