Socks: Toe up
If you are confident knitting cuff downsocks , it may be time to change things up
by working your sock in the other direction. Begin at the toe with a figure 8 double-
sided cast on and immediately start increasing for the toe. Turn the heel and knit the
cuff to desired length and finish with a comfortable, non-binding cast off.

The Shift
Your knitting world will expand when
you learn mosaic and slip
stitch color knitting.
You will use only one yarn at a time on
a row of knitting, but the clever use of
slip stitches will create the illusion of
more complicated color work. Kate will
guide you through a few swatches to
help you understand these techniques.
Then she’ll help you choose colors in
class for your own version of The Shift, a
cowl design by Andrea Mowry.

From Tami: Hello, my name is Tami Kay and I am happy to announce that I am the new owner
of Sheep’s Clothing. I have known Paula and have been a loyal customer of hers for many years. I have
great admiration for the hard work and dedication that Paula has put into starting and growing this
lovely shop from the ground up, and I am thrilled that she will continue to work at Sheep’s a couple
days a week. I am excited for the opportunity to continue the tradition, charm, and sense of community
of Sheep’s Clothing that we all have come to know and love. Additionally, I look forward to offering
some new and exciting ideas of my own!
I would like to share a little bit about myself. I am a nurse practitioner, long-time Valpo resident, and
mother of eight children. My grandmother taught me to crochet and knit when I was young, and I
have always maintained a passion for both. My husband and I have kept very
busy over the years raising a large blended family. Our two youngest children are
now in high school, which has afforded me the opportunity to pursue my love of
crochet, knitting, and all things yarn! I look forward to continuing to learn from
the expertise of Paula and the wonderful staff at Sheep’s Clothing. I anticipate
an exciting and adventurous future for Sheep’s and for all of our loyal customers.
Please stop in and introduce yourself- I look forward to meeting and getting to
know each and every one of you!
