Hey,

I heard you had a rough 5th block. The first thing I want to say is to keep your head up. What I need to know is who
do you think starts the shift. Your observation was good, I could see you really building relationships with those
students. I really need to have details of what occurs in the room, I think when I walk in they change their behaviors,
so I am really going to need details. I am really going to think about this situation and attempt to find as many solutions
as possible.
The second thing that you might have to remove the learning centers for them. They might not have the control to
handle them.

Can you give me details events that are occurring, what triggers these events, etc. Also can you think of anything that
might help?

Hey Mr. Henry,

To be honest my 1st block has never really had problems at all near 5th block level, so what you saw is what I typically
see in there more or less. Madelyn and Janelle had been creating problems but I called both of their mothers and they
seem to be coming back to friendly territory. Today's 5th block was 100% ignited by Ahmadriana. She came into the
classroom with a bad attitude due to her demerit she mentioned that kept her from cheer practice. She never really
gave me many problems before other than her incredibly quick to temper reactions but today was rough. We were
doing a sort of share out and she was just killing the atmosphere by literally shouting out every thought that popped
into her head. That then got other people upset which in turn got other people upset. It was rough. But Ahmadriana
doesn't operate quite like anybody else. She is alone in her own category of aggression and intensity.
If I had my same kids from 1st block were in science I truly believe it would not be a problem. Kloie who comes in is
fine, Ever is fine, Jabarri can be fine, but Mckenzie Hughes and Ahmadriana take the VERY delicate balance of my
homeroom and destroy it sometimes.

I already decided today that learning centers was over with them so I'm glad you are thinking the same. I am going to
go to the Trello world with opportunities to work with others being unlocked only by those able to get on task at the
beginning of class. What are your thoughts on that?

Thanks for your support, it means a lot.

Ok, so can you give me more details about the McKenzie thing. It is her first warning, Do you think with her a
conference will work?

She worked very well yesterday when she had her headphones in and it’s never been this bad, she just got up in my
face in a way that crossed the line. We are normally in a good space together; but she does check her phone and I
have seen it-today with all that was going on I couldn’t get to her to stop it but I know other teachers have had
problems with her phone.

Ok, so next time phone is taken and parents need to come pick it up. The problem is people need to write this stuff up
so we can have documentation when we call. She needs to know that she can not do that. Yellock will take care of this
because I will not be there. We are talking now.

Absolutely, I'm on board. In more positive news, we have a routine in 4th block science that seems to be working well
so far so thanks for that advice. Mine looks like this:

Good Afternoon 4th Block! Make sure you have rotated to the next LC!
LC1:
-Today we are going to see if we changed our mind about anything on the small piece of paper we glued into our
science notebooks about cells and cell theory, we circled A for agree and D for disagree.
-Then we are going to jump into some guided notes about plant and animal cells. Friday we will start making some
models of cells!

LC 2: Read/Watch and Report

https://explorable.com/stem-cell-pros-and-cons

LC3: Take the quiz using your notes about cell theory! Which ones did you get right? Just share the question and the
correct answer. See if anyone else in the class knows the answer first.

LC4: What did we learn yesterday? Model something that we learned using a picture, a dance move, a skit or a small
rap or song.

Riddle of the day: A taxi driver is going the wrong way down a one-way street. He passes four police officers, yet
none of them stop him. Why?
