Literature Review
Issues:

1.  Eksin and Konuray (2008) - file sharing of music poses threat to the declining trend in music industry

a.  Some researches say otherwise, positive effects can also be identified in terms of making the
music more known to a larger group of people

2.  Eksin and Konuray (2008) - less promotions given towards physical albums

a.  Audio stores have been decreasing sizes to closing down while new businesses emerge

3.  Gopal et al (2002) and Sison et al (2011) - changing purchasing patterns of music consumers

a.  Identified factors that affect changing purchasing patterns but did not explain why

Gave rise to new way of acquiring music

Affected how consumers decide customers

Music piracy is affected by factors such as:

Budget

Number of social networking mediums

Limitations of the Literature
Only focused on how music piracy affects the music sales

Lacks certain discussions on the consumer’s perspective

Only considered the industry’s perspective

Lacks in understanding the motivations of purchases of CDs and digital albums through
music liking and satisfaction

Did not consider the underlying processes that influences the decrease in OPM sales

To address this gap, the study will focus on consumer’s perspective integrated with the
industry’s viewpoint as well as the processes that drive the behavior

Dynamic thinking will be used to address this gap

Conclusions
1.  The OPM sales is greatly affected by 2 loops: the loop for OPM satisfaction
and the loop for the effect of gigs and concerts, which influences both the
quality of the song and the voice of the artists.

2.  The desire of to buy music, the effect of airtime and the variety of music only
have a small effect in the OPM sales.

Recommendations:
1.  Based from the tests done, it can be noted that the way to actually
improve the OPM sales is by increasing the number of its listeners and
fans. This can be done by actually increasing the satisfaction of the
audience through increasing both the quality of the song and the quality
of the voice of the artists. In order to address this problem, it is proposed
to enhance the music program of the educational system in order to
improve the talents and skills of Filipinos in writing.

2.  It can be recommended that future researchers to look into ways by

which the amount of OPM fans and OPM listeners would be increased.
