RELIGIOUS EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

February 01, 2020

Dear Parents / Guardians,

Greetings!

This is to inform you that your son/daughter is currently enrolled in the subject D-REED004 – Catholic Social
Teaching and Our Social Responsibility every ____________. This course will provide the students with a deeper
understanding of the Catholic Church’s social teaching and their social mission as Christians and Lasallians to
make peace, truth, charity, justice, and freedom present in the society. Discussions and reflections will highlight the
key themes and principles expressed in the Catholic social documents vis-a vis relevant social issues. Meaningful
activities inside and outside the classroom will lead the students to the Lasallian conviction to pursue social
transformation starting from themselves and eventually in their own social milieu

In this subject, the learning process is blended, that means 50% of the required class hours is for classroom
activities and the other 50% will be online or schoolbook (no classroom attendance). Schoolbook, commonly called
“SB”, is DLSUD’s virtual learning environment tool that enriches learning experience and strengthens student-
teacher and student-student exchanges beyond the classroom. It functions as a course management system where
faculty create electronic classes to share learning materials and design online learning activities. Students can
access lessons, receive assignment reminders and communicate with teachers and classmates through
messaging, discussion forums and chatrooms. Through Schoolbook, the University intends to build and nurture an
online community of lifelong learners.

In this regard, I would like to inform you that every ______starting _____, 2020 of this semester your son/daughter
has online activities. S/he is not required to be in the classroom except if there is a change of schedule to be posted
at least two days in the schoolbook. You may also monitor the academic status of your son/daughter thru
schoolbook.

Thank you very much.

Respectfully yours,

Gladiolus M. Gatdula , PhD
