Welcome to TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment


This qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services
in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector.

Achievement of this qualification is a requirement of The Standards for Registered Training


Organisation 2017 for all trainers and assessors employed in an RTO

(Refer to Standard 1 Trainers and Assessors 1.13 to 1.25 of the new Standards for RTO’s
2015)

Please note that item 1.14 b) states that from 1 January 2017 Trainers and Assessors must hold either the
TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or a Diploma or higher level qualification in adult
education (Schedule 1 items 1 and 2)

Flexi and/or on line learning
Enrolment and Assessment options MUST be discussed with your lecturer BEFORE you
undertake the Flexi options

Study at your own pace with lecturer support and guidance


 To undertake flexi learning you must have access to be able to train groups and
individuals, and conduct assessment of individuals in the workplace. While
undertaking these assessment tasks you must be supervised by a suitably qualified
third party who could be your direct supervisor, line manager or trainer with the
necessary industry knowledge and who preferably holds the Certificate IV in
Training and Assessment TAE40110
 If you are not in a position to undertake these tasks in a workplace, or you do not
have a suitably qualified third party, you will need to make alternative arrangements
with your Central Regional TAFE Lecturer in advance

Recognition of Prior Learning


Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) recognises your past life and work experiences,
education or other training which can be transferred to a current Nationally Accredited
Qualification.
This is an assessment only pathway, and all current assessments that are relevant to your
RPL application must be undertaken
If you would like more information about RPL please discuss this with your lecturer

What do I need prior to Enrolling?

The Certificate IV TAE face to face mode is provided in scheduled, specifically structured
sessions which includes recognised skill sets. The program has been condensed for delivery
purposes only to meet the demands of industry and our client base. This means there are
post course assessment activities built into the program to allow learners the time required
to complete the qualification requirements

Because of this you are required to complete pre-course reading and activities before
attending your first sessions, and after course assessments will need to be completed

Your Lecturer will advise you of the requirements at the time of your pre-enrolment
interview

Please note the following important information

 You MUST have access to a computer

 You MUST have an active email address

 You MUST have access to and be able to use the internet.


 Email, attach documents to emails, web searching

 You MUST have an understanding of and be able to use Microsoft Office software:
 Word and Excel (headers and footers, copy and paste, page numbering,
referencing)

 If you do not have the skills or technology required please discuss options at your
pre-enrolment interview

 It is preferred that you are in a workplace where you can carry out training and
assessment of groups and individuals.

 If you do not have the skills or facilities required please discuss options with your
lecturer.
