B. Discipline and Formation Office (DFO)

Working with the principle that “Teachers don’t discipline, they manage.”, The Discipline and
Formation Office heads the formation program of the school for both the students and faculty
and staff.

In understanding discipline, the following are taken into consideration:

 Discipline gives children a feeling of security by telling them what they may and may not
do.
 It helps children to avoid from frequent feelings of guilt and shame for misbehavior-
feelings that inevitably lead to unhappiness and poor adjustment.
 Discipline enables children to live according to standards approved by the social group
and thus to win social approval.
 Through discipline, children learn to behave in a way that leads to praise that, they
interpret as indications of love and acceptance which is essential to successful adjustment
and happiness.
 Discipline serves as an ego-bolstering motivation, which encourages children to
accomplish what is required of them.
 Discipline helps children to develop a conscious the “internalized voice” that guides them
in making their own decisions and controlling their own behavior.

In principle, a teacher is the in loco parentis in relation with the learners entrusted to his/her care.
Utmost patience is required in dealing with disciplinary cases, exhibiting firmness but kind.

The DFO, together with the faculty and staff of the institution has established Policies on
Discipline that was carefully crafted to ensure a conducive learning environment.

Included in the scope of the DFO is the implementation of the following:

a. PPCNSHS Child-Protection Policy

b. PPCNSHS Anti-Bullying Policy

Programs

1. Exposure-Outreach. The PPCNSHS provides exposure-outreach for students, faculty and

staff to develop their sense of awareness on social issues, and nurtures one’s sense of compassion
towards children and youth-at-risk. It recognizes and appreciates the students’ role in the mission
by actualizing and intensifying their zeal for service with the poor. Every year, students are
engaged in exposure activities anchored on the social teachings of the Church DepEd’s core
values which enhance their critical thinking skills and academic achievement. The student’s
exposure activities are composed of three main stages based on their social development:

people who are victims of circumstance and marginalized by exclusion.

action on local and national issues affecting the society. Advocacy initiatives are drawn from the
current expression of the Institution’s Mission.
