Saptashloki Gita

Gita 8.13-Uttering the one-syllabled 'OM' --- the (symbol of) BRAHMAN --- and remembering
Me, he who departs, leaving the body, attains the Supreme Goal

Gita 11.36-It is but meet, O Hrishikesha (Krishna), that the world delights and rejoices in Thy
praise; RAKSHASAS fly in fear to all quarters, and all hosts of SIDDHAS bow to Thee.

Gita 13.13-With hands and feet everywhere, with eyes, heads and mouths everywhere, with
ears everywhere, He exists in the world, enveloping all.

Gita 8.9-Whosoever, meditates upon the Omniscient, the Ancient, the Ruler (of the whole world)
, minuter than the atom, the Supporter of all, of Form inconceivable, Effulgent like the Sun and
beyond the darkness (of ignorance) .

Gita 15.1-They (wise people) speak of the indestructible ASHWATTHA tree as having its roots
above and branches below, whose leaves are the VEDAS ; he who knows it, is alone a
Veda-knower.

Gita 15.15-And I am seated in the hearts of all, from Me are memory, knowledge, as well as
their absence. I am verily that which has to be known in all the VEDAS; I am indeed the author
of VEDANTA, and, the "knower of the VEDAS" am I.

Gita 9.34-Fix your mind on Me; be devoted to Me, sacrifice to Me, bow down to Me; having thus
united your (whole) Self with Me, taking me as the Supreme Goal, you shall come to Me.

Fitness for self surrender -Gita 2.7-My heart is overpowered by the taint of pity; my mind is
confused as to duty. I ask Thee. Tell me decisively what is good for me. I am Thy disciple.
Instruct me, who have taken refuge in Thee.

Destruction of enemies like desire -Gita 3.43-Thus knowing Him, who is superior to intellect, and
restraining the self by the Self, slay you, O mighty-armed, the enemy in the form of 'desire, ' no
doubt hard indeed to conquer

Steadfastness in devotion- Gita 4.5-Many births of Mine have passed as well as yours, O
Arjuna; I know them all but you know them not, O Parantapa (scorcher of foes) .

Destruction of obstacles in sadhana-Gita 5.29-Knowing Me as Enjoyer of sacrifices and


austerities, the Great Lord of all worlds, the friend of all beings, he attains Peace.

Victory over mind -Gita 6.25-Little by little, let him attain quietude by his intellect, held firm;
having made the mind established in the Self, let him not think of anything.
Fitness for meditation-Gita 6.26- From whatever cause the restless and the unsteady mind
wanders away, from that let him restrain it, and bring it back under the control of the Self alone.

Ripening of devotion-Gita 6.30-He who sees Me everywhere, and sees everything in Me, he
never gets separated from Me, nor do I get separated from him.

Ripening of wisdom-Gita 6.31-He who, being established in unity, worships Me, dwelling in all
beings, that YOGI abides in Me, whatever be his mode of living.

Beholding God everywhere - Gita 7.7-There is nothing whatsoever higher than Me, O
Dhananjaya. All this is strung in Me, as clusters of gems on a string

Destruction of enemies like desire - Gita 8.8-. With the mind not moving towards any other thing,
made steadfast by the method of habitual meditation, and constantly meditating on the Supreme
PURUSHA, the Resplendent, O Partha, he goes (to Him) .

Attainment of yoga kshema-Gita 9.22-To those men who worship Me alone, thinking of no other,
to those ever self- controlled, I secure for them that which is not already possessed (YOGA) by
them, and preserve for them what they already possess (KSHEMA) .

Fitness for vision of god -Gita 9.26-Whoever offers Me with devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit,
water, that I accept, offered by the pure-minded with devotion.

Acquirement of divine grace-Gita 9.27-Whatever you do, whatever you eat, whatever you offer
in sacrifice, whatever you give in charity, whatever you practise as austerity, O Kaunteya, do it
as an offering to Me.

Fitness for self surrender - Gita 9.32-For, taking refuge in Me, they also, who O Partha, may be
of a "sinful birth" --- WOMEN, VAISHYAS as well as SHUDRAS --- even they attain the
Supreme Goal.

Fitness for self surrender - Gita 18.65-Fix your mind upon Me; be devoted to Me; sacrifice for
Me; bow down to Me; you shall come, surely then, to Me alone; truly do I promise to you, (for)
you are dear to Me.

Becoming yoga bhakta-Gita 10.10-To the ever-steadfast, worshipping Me with love, I give the
"BUDDHI YOGA, " by which they come to Me.

Attainment of viveka-Gita 11.16-I see Thee of boundless form on every side, with manifold
arms, stomachs, mouths and eyes; neither the end, nor the middle, nor also the beginning do I
see; O, Lord of the Universe, O, Cosmic-Form
Growth of devotion-Gita 11.38-You are the Primal God, the Ancient PURUSHA; You are the
Supreme Refuge of this universe. You are the knower, the knowable, and the Abode-Supreme.
By Thee is the universe pervaded, O Being of Infinite forms.

Control of mind -Gita 11.39-You are VAYU, YAMA, AGNI, VARUNA, the Moon, PRAJAPATI,
and the great- grandfather of all. Salutations! Salutations unto You a thousand times, and again
salutations unto You!.

Destruction of delusion - Gita 11.40-Salutations to You, before and behind! Salutations to You
on every side! O All! You, Infinite in Power, and Infinite in Prowess, pervade all; wherefore You
are the All.

Ability to please lord- Gita 11.43-You are the Father of this world, moving and unmoving. You
are to be adored by this world. You are the greatest GURU, (for) there exists none who is equal
to You; how can there be then another, superior to You in the three worlds, O Being of
unequalled power?

Fitness for god realization- Gita 12.7-For them, whose minds are set on Me, verily I become,
ere-long, O Partha, the Saviour, (to save them) out of the ocean of finite experiences; the
SAMSARA

Devotion to god - Gita 13.13-I will declare that which has to be "known" knowing which one
attains to Immortality --- the beginningless Supreme BRAHMAN, called neither being nor non-
being.

Purification of antahkarana Gita 13.14-With hands and feet everywhere, with eyes, heads and
mouths everywhere, with ears everywhere, He exists in the world, enveloping all.

Knowledge born of viveka- Gita 15.14-Having become (the Fire) VAISHVAANARA , I abide in
the body of beings, and associated with PRANA and APANA, digest the four-fold food

Cessation of anger - Gita 15.15-And I am seated in the hearts of all, from Me are memory,
knowledge, as well as their absence. I am verily that which has to be known in all the VEDAS; I
am indeed the author of VEDANTA, and, the "knower of the VEDAS" am I

Devotion- Gita 15.19-He who undeluded, thus knows Me, the Supreme PURUSHA , he,
all-knowing, worships Me with his whole being, O Bharata

Destruction of obstacles - Gita 18.58-Fixing your mind upon Me, you shall, by My grace,
overcome all obstacles, but if, from egoism, you will not hear Me, you shall perish

Fitness for god realization- Gita 18.66-Abandoning all DHARMAS, (of the body, mind, and
intellect) , take refuge in Me alone; I will liberate thee from all sins; grieve not.
Grace of Lord - Gita 18.78-Wherever is Krishna, the Lord of YOGA , wherever is Paartha, the
archer, there are prosperity, victory, happiness and firm (steady or sound) policy; this is my
conviction.
