INSET

I. Topic: Geometry
Sub – Topic: Exterior Angle and its Remote Interior Angle of a Triangle

References: Grade 8 Mathematics: Patterns and Practicalities by Gladys C. Nivera. pp. 343 -
345
e – Math Geometry by Orlando A. Oronce et. al. P. 375

II. Apperceptive Bases: Linear Pair, Interior Angles of a Triangle

III. Objectives
At the end of the period, at least 75% of the students with 75% proficiency should be
able to: M8GE IIIa – 1
1.) define remote interior angles and exterior angle of a triangle,
2.) derive and apply the relationship of the exterior and its corresponding remote interior
angles of a triangle
4.) solve routine problems,
5.) demonstrate cooperation, sportsmanship and patience in performing their task.

III. Procedure
A. Preparatory Activities
1. Prayer
2. Unlocking of Terms
3. Review: Mathematics of Love; Refer to the attached sheet.

B. Development of the Lesson

1. Introduction to the lesson
The Exterior Angle of a Triangle and Remote Interior Angles of a Triangle
2. Activity – Refer to attached sheet
(Relationship of the Remote Interior Angles of a Triangle and its corresponding
Exterior Angle)
3. Analysis
 How does the sum of the measures of the two remote interior angles, compare
with the measure of its exterior angle?
 What conclusion can you make from the measures of the two remote interior
angles of a triangle with the measures its exterior angle?

4. Abstraction
Generalization
 The measure of an exterior angle of a triangle is equal to the sum of the
measures of the two Remote Interior Angles.

 An Exterior Angle of a Triangle is an angle which forms a linear pair with one of
the triangle’s interior angle.

 The Remote Interior Angles of a Triangle are the two interior angles of the
triangle not adjacent to the exterior angle.

5. Application (Group Activity)

The Two Brave Men
IV. Assignment
Things to Ponder:
a. What keeps Paul and Silas braveness? What good values did they get along their
journey?
b. What do you think will happen if Paul and Silas separate their ways towards the
church?
c. If this maze is the path of your life, who do you think will be your companion to
reach your goal? Why?
d. What path will you choose in your life? Are you brave enough to follow?
