People living in colder weather conditions need longer nasal
bridges to humidify the cold air in order to make it more
suitable for inhalation; people from warm climates did not need
such adaptation (American Journal of the Physical
Anthropology).
Broad faces with receding foreheads and flat noses were
considered attractive by precolonial Philippine societies,
especially the early Visayans (William Henry Scott).

The story takes place during a time
wherein people did not have noses yet.
Suddenly, a cloud forms and rains down
noses on these people. The taller and
bigger people of other countries were
able to get noses, meanwhile the
Filipinos could only get the noses that
fell on the ground which have already
been stepped on.

As a result of globalization and colonization, the standards of beauty or ideal
physical characteristics for Filipino men and women are heavily associated with
Westernized and East Asian characteristics. This is detrimental to the self-
perception of Filipino individuals who do not reach these standards as well as
demean or undervalue the culture and roots of the Filipino people.
