CONTENT STANDARD
The learner demonstrates understanding of the key concepts, uses and imporatance of
Statistics, data collection/gathering and the different forms of data representation, measures of central
tendency,measures of variability, and probability.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD
The learner is able to collect and oraganize data systematically and compute accurately
measures of central tendency and variabilty and apply these appropriately in data analysis and interpretation
in different fields.
LEARNING COMPETENCY
The learner illustrates the measures of variability (range, average deviation, variance, standard
deviation) of a statistical data.
I-OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
a. illustrates the measures of variability of a given ungrouped data using standard deviation,
b. appreciate the value of patience in calculating standard deviation of ungrouped data; and
c. calculate the measures of variability of a given ungrouped data using standard deviation.
II-SUBJECT MATTER
a. Topic: Measures of Variability (Standard Deviation of Ungrouped Data)

III-PROCEDURE
A. Activity
1. Prayer
- Requesting everybody to please stand for a prayer. And - (They do the prayer with the one student
may I request somebody to lead the prayer? (one student who volunteered to lead the prayer.)
volunteer).
2. Greetings
- Good morning, students! - Good morning, ma’am Villalon.
- You may now take your seats and make youself - Thank you, ma’am.
comfortable.
3. Checking of Attendance/Assignment
- Classroom Secretary, kindly list down the names of your
classmates who are absent today and pass it to me after the
class session. (Give an index card) -Okay, ma’am.
- Do you have an assignment? - None, ma’am.
4. Review
-Possible Answers:
-Excellent!
Mean, median, mode, central tendency and
standard deviation
B. Analysis
(Showing pictures of a scenario in a classroom having a group
activity.)
- What have you observed from the picture?
-Alright, it’s a group of students having a group activity.
-Now, you may group yourselves into 4 groups through - (Answers may vary)
counting. And you will start counting from the right side of the
row.
The group 1 & 2 will stay in the right side and the group 3 & 4 (Starts counting.)
will stay in left side. And choose your own group leader.
- Are you staying in your group now? (Students proceed to their respective groups.)
- From all the words found in the puzzle, what word does not
belong to central tendency? -Yes, ma’am.
- I will be presented a video and I want you to listen carefully - Standard Deviation, ma’am.
because after watching it, I will ask question/s in each group.
(Presents a video).
- Our topic for this morning is all about ‘’Measures of (Students listen carefully.)
Variability (Standard Deviation of Ungrouped Data). And these
are our objectives:
a. illustrates the measures of variability of a given ungrouped
data using standard deviation.
b. appreciate the value of patience in calculating standard
deviation of ungrouped data; and
c. calculates the measures of variability of a given ungrouped
data using standard deviation.
-Kindly read.
