Introduction

The vast majority of industrial projects are

developed internationally, mainly for clients
abroad.

Different parties use different languages.

It is necesary to unify the language to be used.

Most used language for projects development is
English.
Oil & Gas

Where do all these names come from?

Greenfield: undeveloped land in a city or rural
area either used for agriculture, landscape
design, or left to evolve naturally.
Brownfield: abandoned or underused industrial
and commercial facilities available for reuse.
Revamping:

naturally.
Retrofitting: addition of new technology or
features, e.g. power plant retrofit, improving
power plant efficiency or increasing output.
Power Block: specific Balance of Plant (BOP):
part of the plant where all auxiliary systems
power is generated. present in the plant.
OSBL: Outside Battery Limit

ISBL: Inside Battery Limit

Turnkey Projects
Project that is designed, built, put into
operation and then turned over to client.
➙Coordinate all aspects of the design
➙Administer construction contract
➙Manage construction
➙Train the personal to operate facility
➙Turn project over to the owner
Fast Track Projects
Lump Sum (fixed price)
This is the most common type of contract.
Stipulated job of work in exchange for a
fixed sum of money. Useful for projects:

➙Scope accurate and completely defined

➙Limited variation is needed

➙Risk level is low and quantifiable

➙Client is not involved in PM

LSTK: Lump Sum Turnkey

Lump Sum + Turnkey

Complete payment consisting of a single sum of money

in exchange of a plant that will be ready to start up upon
delivery.

In this type of contract the financial risk lies with the

contractor and specifies that the scope of work includes
start-up of the facility to a level of operational status.
